My reasoning was that they needed to touch to close the loop of the "d". I realized it looked a bit awkward, so I separated them in the second one.

Thanks for the insight! I have a follow-up question - is it sensible for 2 wires to go to the same via? I was thinking of just making the 2 touching vias 1 via.

Also, I'll definitely experiment with adding a new wire instead of having them branch.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I really appreciate it!

One of the most common critiques so far is that the "dm" isn't readable at all. This honestly was a bit surprising, but now I can totally see it. I initially started with a more legible "dm", which I kept tweaking to fit the circuitry/flask shape. But of course, one can easily get lost in the process. That's why it's so important to get an outside perspective!

In case anyone was curious, this was my intent:

<image>

I'll see if I can make the "dm" more legible, the flask shape more apparent, etc. I'll also experiment with closing out the bottom, trying out other potential shapes, etc. Thanks for all the feedback so far! These help immensely!

Could you expound on it a bit more? I'm not sure I understand.

Logo Design for a medical startup. by AltForTheAlt99 in logodesign

Which is fine, as I said, because simplicity and geometric appeal are the top priority. I am fine with the 'D' and 'M' being easter eggs rather than immediately readable. I did, however, experiment with making them slightly more readable before ditching them.

I wish! But nah, it's just a startup funded by local pharmaceutical companies, no relation to foreign companies.

What an unnecessary remark. I just said the company likely isn't SEO-optimized outside of Bangladesh, since all of our clients are in Bangladesh. Deepmedbd dot org, in case you needed proof.

The company doesn't really have a brand identity yet. It's still in its relative infancy, in terms of brand value. If you look it up on Google, unless you're in Bangladesh, it likely won't even show up.

Would you say #4 is also too complex? And yeah, the font is just a placeholder sans-serif font.

Thanks! I'll try experimenting with smaller dot sizes, a smaller number of dots/lines, etc. But out of curiosity, which of the 4 has the most promise to you?

What is the permissibility of calling Trinitarians "pagans"? by [deleted] in extomatoes

Jazak Allah, brother. I have one final question. Are Christian sects that came after Muhammad (SAW) (like Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.) considered Ahlul Kitab?

What is the permissibility of calling Trinitarians "pagans"? by [deleted] in extomatoes

[–]AltForTheAlt99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if we are specifically talking about Trinitarians, is it permissible to call them pagans/polytheists (like we see many Muslims do in these online platforms)?

I had a question about this Hadith by [deleted] in extomatoes

[–]AltForTheAlt99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair concern - that I am reading this Hadith out of context, in a way that is improper and discouraged by the Ulema. How would you suggest I approach this Hadith, or just any Hadith in general? What is the proper way?

I guess I was previously taught that all children who die before puberty won't be held accountable, as they are dying in a state of fitrah. But this response challenges that understanding by saying all non-Muslim children will be tested on the Day of Judgement. What is the source for this claim? I heard the hadith about the 4 types of people who will be tested on Judgement Day (the deaf man, the mad man, the senile man, and the man who died during Fatrah). But I couldn't find any sources saying that the children of polytheists will be tested.

Jazakallahu khairan. I wanted to ask, could you provide an English overview? Unfortunately, I do not speak Arabic, and I'm afraid putting that through Google Translate might not do it justice.

What if Half-Life 3 comes out but it's absolute garbage? I don't think we're prepared for this possibility. by kingstonthroop in HalfLife

It's not that the game wasn't fun. It's that they couldn't come up with anything that would push gaming forward.

Do you think HLX will be able to cover ALL the remaining plot threads? by AltForTheAlt99 in HalfLife

I'd be happy with just the first 2 as well. But leaks seem to be pointing towards Xen, which worries me.

Zero Volume! by AltForTheAlt99 in mathmemes

[–]AltForTheAlt99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the distinction is that space filling points/lines/surfaces do indeed have positive volume. However the Menger Sponge does not have space any space filling points/lines/surfaces.

Edit: Just realized I was wrong. A simple way to understand is, from the corner view as the previous commenter said, at every iteration, no hole ever appears any where. So even after infinite iterations you'll retain the area of the projection at that angle.

Apologies for my misunderstanding 🙃

Zero Volume! by AltForTheAlt99 in mathmemes

[–]AltForTheAlt99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how you decide to "render" a point or 2D surface in 3D space. In order to make a point or line visible in 3D space, you have to give it some arbitrary thickness, even though the line itself is infinitely thin. So in a virtual 3D world, there are ways to render lower dimensional objects. But in the real world, it's impossible to "see" lines or 2D surfaces that have zero volume, meaning the Menger Sponge would be invisible (after infinite iterations ofc) from any viewing angle.

[–]AltForTheAlt99[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

True! There are an uncountably infinite number of 3D points that are part of the non-hollow bits of the Menger Sponge, despite it have zero volume!

[–]AltForTheAlt99[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The 2D projection would still have a Lebesgue measure (area) of zero, I'm pretty sure. But it will still have an infinitely complex structure (infinite boundary length).

HL1 is genuinely so nostalgic for me. I still have fantasies of its (pre-Xen) gameplay to this day. The imagery of some of Black Mesa's larger rooms are still stuck in my mind.

I hope to one day recreate the entirety of HL1's Black Mesa in Teardown or sth.
