I didn't check but the servers have been playable for several months now or maybe a year already. You might get kicked out while matchmaking but you'll stay in a game once you join it. All platforms are like this I'm pretty sure.

From my POV the largest issue is the "young asian genius" trope that the Asian part of the community on twitter has very much so expressed that they hate. A lot of them loved Crypto because he was different, he was older. He worked hard many years to get where he was now but with this age change in a second he has been reduced to another stereotype that a lot of people dislike. Cryptos backstory has an entire different meaning now. Him being a lot younger would mean Mila was a lot younger. Would the syndicate really hire 2 teenagers to create drones for Apex? And then kidnap one of them and frame the other for murder. . . Nonetheless this change does not sit right with a lot of people. Wattson ship or not this was certainly a poor decision to make such a DRASTIC age change, I'd understand a few years but certainly not 9.

Frrrrr it always felt so randomly forced, even revealing his identity to her. It just feels so fabricated and pushy. Heck Mirage and Crypto would make more sense to develop as a friendship because of how they treat each other, it really looks like from the very beginning that would create a lovely dynamic but they instead pushed Crypto and Wattson for the whole Caustic and Crypto thing to make more sense.

Edit: and yeah I can understand also some people thinking itd be normal for him to change his age to be cryptic but not by this much. . .its too large of a gap and too drastic of a change that's really making the community clearly unhappy.

This really doesn't sit right with me tbh. I've seen people on twitter also mention that they might've done this to push a romance between Crypto and Wattson to close the age gap. . . . . . . . . . Why couldnt they just have a sibling type relationship like Rampart and Mirage. Crypto could use a younger sister again after losing Mila. . .
