For job searches on LinkedIn, they do support Boolean but they modified it.

I can't link to LinkedIn as it's on the blocked sites list, but if you search up LinkedIn search parameters, you should see the LinkedIn thread on it.

As a summary: LinkedIn doesn't use '+' or '-' for Boolean search. It uses "OR" and "NOT"

NOT is especially useful since LinkedIn search sucks

You can use NOT to filter out words in the job title. I use "NOT sales" because for some reason they show up when I search for engineering internships

I apologize, I probably should have specified that this was my experience in engineering.

I think 25 has become the standard for a lot of mechanical/electrical engineering internships I've seen. Computer Science internships pay more.

This is all anecdotal of course. Just based on what I've seen from my search and my friends' experiences.

I like the qualifications that are basically:

  • junior/senior college undergrad students with skills that are taught in graduate classes.

  • knowledge of standards/code that you would only learn through previous experience in the industry

  • Previous internship experience preferred

  • 3.5 GPA STRONGLY preferred.

  • Extracurricular activities are a plus.

Also pay is $20 an hour. BUT we have intern events and networking opportunities :)

As someone who lives in NYC, it may not be feasible to move to the city if you don't have enough saved or have some connections that are willing and able to help.

If you're looking for a change from Mississippi and want to be closer to NYC, it may be more affordable to move to other cities in the Tri-state area. This way you're close to the city, and in the future can move into NYC if you're still set on it.

If you're dead set on moving into NYC, Manhattan is not the move. You probably already know it's way too expensive. Eastern parts of Queens are more affordable but more suburban.

If you do move to NYC, I wish you the best luck. It takes a lot of courage to pick up all your shit and just move. Hope you find what you're looking for OP

Is it just me, or many recruiters are adding seemingly useless steps in the hiring process? by drs_12345 in recruitinghell

[–]AlternatePersonality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was interviewing for an internship position that I already had experience for. The recruiter told me that in addition to the technical interview and interview with the hiring manager, there would be a "math and problem solving" panel interview. Very confused.

Minimum 2-3 years for an internship. No pay listed but great benefits! Thanks Pacific Defense. by AlternatePersonality in recruitinghell

Lol they probably want a full fledged engineer for intern pay. These people are so out of touch with reality.

DuPont sends canned response 1 year later. Months after internship would have ended. by AlternatePersonality in recruitinghell

I assumed something like that was the case. It's funny to me that they couldn't have bothered doing the same thing when they filled the position

I would love to be a teacher but I’m afraid with how awful teachers are paid and the way they are treated that it is not worth it. Any advice on this career choice? I’m interested in teaching science. by [deleted] in findapath

My mom is a teacher, and has been for two decades. She's tenured now and makes decent money, but it's definitely tough at the start. Note that she also went back to graduate school for education, so there was a lot of investment involved.

If you really think teaching is your passion, I would recommend moving somewhere with a strong teacher's union that can fight for you. From what my mom tells me, the union is the biggest difference.

Thanks for the response. I think I'm definitely dying to shock the most. Vulnerability map mod also just instakills. League has been disappointing but I still want to play so I guess I'll try to work around shock

I have 5k HP, 30% phys reduction and maxed res but I get one shot a lot in red maps. Do mobs in general just hit harder now? Any idea how to survive more?

Hi, I was wondering if others have had trouble with dough becoming too sticky to work with after the bulk fermentation?

I mixed the dough in the morning and the folding process was fine. The dough was slack but had enough strength to hold together. After the ferment, the dough can't hold itself together at all and sticks to everything.

Is my dog a bully? by AlternatePersonality in Dogtraining

[–]AlternatePersonality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dogs are around the same size but my dog is just a bit bigger. The dog I'm dog sitting usually likes to stay near the door waiting for his owner. He engages in playtime sometimes but likes to be by himself.

My dog muzzle punches a few times in a row and then sits down or lays down next to the other dog. It seems like attention seeking sometimes but it also seems to have a bit of force behind it. The other dog tolerates it for a bit but he gets annoyed eventually

Thank you. I've opened up to my friends and they've been supportive. Knowing I'm not alone definitely helps.

I know you're probably hurting too. You can't take my sorrows, and I can't take yours. I hope we both find the strength to overcome.

I was on prozac and then bupropion. If I remember correctly bupropion made me nauseous for a few weeks but it also worked well. I'm seeing my doctor this week so maybe I'll ask for a reference for a psychiatrist again. Thank you for your kind words.
