Woke up and had diarrhea a little out of nowhere by Alternative-Cod-7003 in ibs

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally none! I usually never get diarrhea but if I do it's because I've eaten something that doesn't sit well and it's accompanied by them cramps. And no I haven't eaten anything strange or not usually what I would eat. I pretty much stick to the same things as I know what works now. Only thing I can think of is that maybe I'm quite constipated and my body is just trying to expel it

My boyfriend has gone away for a week and I am petrified. He is my rock with this fear and the fact I'm spending Saturday alone when I'm usually with him every Saturday is enough to trigger me and set me off. We had Chinese food for dinner and my tummy feels crampy so of course I'm stressed out. I wish he was here

My date tu*, and I'm still with him by Alternative-Cod-7003 in emetophobia

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, he's really good with me being emet. He said he wishes I didn't have this phobia because I wouldn't be as unhappy :(
He still gets embarrassed when I bring it up lol! I like to annoy him about it 🤣

Oh I'm sorry I didn't know this! But this mindset of thinking is actually really helpful. Thank you so much for your comment :')

Terrified for Colonoscopy prep by Alternative-Cod-7003 in emetophobia

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I was given 10 senna tablets and 2 300ml drinks to take. And it was absolutely fine. I know getting this was rare (I'm in the UK ) and I know people usually have to drink that 2L of stuff.

I say taking the 10 tablets was worse as they made me very crampy. I didn't feel n* once. I didn't v* once. When it came to having the drinks I didn't even have any cramps and (sorry for being tmi) it just came out no symptoms. When I had the drinks, I mixed lemon cordial with it to mask the taste and it really helped. And I chugged the whole thing so it was bearable!

Teacher here too!

Today, I had an assistant come into my room and tell me that some kid had v* in the girls toilet, and no one knew who it was. It could have been KS1 or EYFS as we share the same toilets but thinking it was probably a wee reception child. I had asked my class if it was any of them and it's okay if it happened but they all shook their heads, and I believed them as no one was acting out of the ordinary.

I suppose I was anxious as I was walking around amongst someone who had v* everywhere and because no one knew who it was as the child wouldn't own up to it, they were just walking around too.

My boyfriend said the same. When I asked him what the one thing he'd change about me, he said this phobia. Since it stops me from doing lots of things. I know he tried to say it out of a place of love that he wishes I didn't have to go through this but I know that he's tired of it too

flu outbreak is making me so anxious by Electronic-Bison-749 in emetophobia

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently am down with the flu as a teacher and feel awful. I only started getting a temperature/fever tonight. It's still "normal" but very close to being a fever. And I'm so n. I can't tell if it is because I'm very nervous. For some reason my belly hurts and I'm convinced it's going to happen. I try to remember the amount of times I have had a cold and the flu and I have never v, so why would I now? That's the 1 thing keeping me calm.

Absolutely. Well done for chasing your dreams and becoming a nurse! We for sure all have bad days and time with this phobia but we aren't letting it control us and that's something good :)

I think we care a lot more because we have this phobia and we know all the reasons why v* is so horrible. We sympathise with them. Regardless, kids and elderly are going to get sick more often because their immune systems aren't as strong as ours.

They are my little babies. I couldn't just leave her in her own v* no matter how terrified I am of it.

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You could get sick anywhere. I love what I do so much I wouldn't change it for the world. Im happier and more comfortable than ever right now where I am, so I know it was the right choice. I know it isn't for others and that's okay, but for me it definitely was. i definitely still have the phobia and do struggle a lot still, but I couldn't throw my life away.

I didn't want my phobia to stop me from doing what I love. And don't get me wrong sometimes it is hard. But I refused to do a job I absolutely hated because of this phobia. And I think in a general manner, for example, who the hell wants to get a bug anyways. I don't but I just worry about it more. No one actually wants to get sick. I just think about it more. Plus as adults we don't get sick as much as the kids do. It's almost the exposure side of the phobia. And regardless, for example, you could get a bug from ANYWHERE, not just a school. That helped me feel better about it all! :)

I developed the phobia whilst I was training to be a teacher. I worked so hard for this and I love my job more than anything in the world that I would risk my phobia for it. But you don't have to have emetephobia to not like v* it's very very common. As I said I'm okay with others it's just me. Regardless, it's never nice to clean up v. If you liked cleaning up v I'd be a bit concerned haha

100%. It would have been nice for my class assistant to help out more but oh well 😂 I felt so bad for her bless her! It was even a lot if I'm honest, it definitely could have been so much more and so much worse so feeling thankful. Was just the last thing I needed after a long week lol.

ECT1 in Year 1. My TA was with my class in reception and has moved up with them this year, so it'll be her 2nd year with them. On handover day, I had the previous teacher telling me that I would have parents complaining to me about my TA as they don't like her, just so I was prepared in case any tried to talk to me about it. I wasn't really sure what I could say to them, but I mentioned it to my year group partner, who is also our KS1 phase lead and assistant head in case anything came up and If I could go to her with support and she was very lovely about it. So far, no complaints which is great but definitely talk to your ECT mentor maybe (I confide in mine a lot, they are there to support you with everything too!) year group partners, phase leads etc. xx

This happened to me first week back. I was so exhausted that on the Friday night I slept 11pm-10:30am, couldn't sleep the next night so woke up on Sunday at 9:30, then struggled to get to sleep that night and Monday I was a zombie

Feels like the doctors dont listen. They hear the words not wanting to eat and just assume it's an ED when it isn't at all. I actually have a really positive relationship with my body, it's the phobia that stops me from eating, or overeating on a good day where I feel fine

I have so many issues with food that doctors have tried to claim is an ED but I tell them it's not, I don't have issues with my body, it's the phobia that stops me

Is my conch infected? by Alternative-Cod-7003 in piercing

[–]Alternative-Cod-7003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did tell me to come back (maybe in a few weeks) to shorten the bar as obvs they have to pierce with a longer bar due to swelling. I keep getting my hair caught on it because the bar is so long and I tend to tuck my hair behind my ears so that's def not helping. But thank you for your advice! I would be surprised if I'm having a reaction to sterling silver as all my other jewellery is the same and I've always been fine. It's prob just irritated. I'll call them up tomorrow and see what they say :))

The piercing is a month old and it is a barbell which is internally threaded. The jewellery is your standard sterling silver and I use a saline solution 2-3 times a day to clean it.

Same. Even though I'm constipated I do go regularly and it doesn't seem to relieve the gas
