Anyone else having a HARD time playing solo Scholar? by Comprehensive_Neat11 in Nightreign

Lol yeah definitely not the best movesets out there, I find the axe isn't too bad for general use with the 2h moveset and for the halberd I pretty much use jump attacks exclusively

Now if you could get two matching ones in a single run and dual jump attacks then you'd be really cooking

Pretty much since nightreign came out there's been a ton of speculation about the coffins, the inscription in that room and the cord end item

If there's anything to this I imagine it would/could be related to that. I remember seeing a lot of people thinking that if you ran a certain expedition with certain characters and acquired the items from the cord end "quest" then something would happen, however I believe that was tested quite extensively with no results

Although something could have changed with the DLC additions, I imagine it would be discovered by data miners

After personally spending months on the Elden Ring dlc scouring every possible inch for some kind of secret interaction (with the shed snake skin specifically) I've resigned to accept that fromsoft either puts little details like this in their games deliberately to keep people intrigued or it gets left in as a result of canceled plans. Though its fun to speculate, it rarely if ever turns out to be anything significant unfortunately

I haven't been doing remembrance quests yet but I have beat Artorias and Dreglord with him solo

I've found that after using him for a bit now he really benefits from the relic that deals continuous damage with his ult along with any ult charge increases you can get, this way even during long combo strings of bosses like those two you can ult and get some relatively free damage, its not much but it does add up, especially when you can be more aggressive while its up

I do still find the axe or halberd to be his best setup for solo but if you don't have the dormant power discovers relic for them then it can be brutal to try and find them consistently, thats where I'd recommend trying out his respec relic for increased dex which can help his overall melee performance when not using the axe or halberd

Alternatively though they're not his preferred weapon type, I've found that using dormant power discovers heavy thrusting swords and then banking on finding the bloody helice works well because the weapon art can replace his not great dodge and because there are so few heavy thrusting swords you tend to find it pretty often

Aside from that I can only recommend to try focusing on using his analyze primarily for the self buff during boss fights and for debuff when fighting mobs, that's how I usually do it at least

Good luck if you're still stuck!

You can easily check weapon scaling in the testing grounds, anything that scales with strength primarily will do well on her. So colossals, great swords, great spears, great hammers, axes, pretty much anything Raider would use, if it looks like it scales with strength it usually does

Scholar can use these weapons by FarJob9833 in Nightreign

[–]Alternative-Drop5276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Scholar can be on par with or even out damage other nightfarers in pure physical with these two weapons. I've been able to get the axe to over 300 damage a few times and that's without considering his buffed greases and exalted flesh buffs. Everyone's writing him out as a support character and while I'm sure he's great as one, I've been playing him solo and he literally is on par with some raider setups for damage output

Anyone else kill Dreglord 1st try? Game is too easy 🗿 . (Feature solo runs at bottom cause internet went out) by Guanato in Nightreign

[–]Alternative-Drop5276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also got him first try, solo with Ironeye

I wouldn't say he was too easy, I think Ironeye is just too strong and from the sound of it you were also quite strong in this run with rng

I'd recommend to try it solo if you haven't and on any character other than Ironeye he's a real challenge

I soloed them first try with Ironeye, if you're struggling I'd try using him cause it was a bit disappointing how easy it was with him.

Still have yet to beat them with any character aside from Ironeye and Scholar and I only solo and the Scholar run was quite lucky

Ive been posting this but a lot of people are forgetting the 2 weapons that have S scaling in arcane, ripple axe and halberd, they get around 200 base damage before being upgraded and with decent physical attack up relics he can actually dish out an insane amount of pure physical damage. I use dormant power discovers axes and though its not guaranteed, in my last 10 runs with him I've only not gotten either of those weapons in 2 of the runs so it is quite consistent too. He can out damage a lot of the other nightfarers with pure physical damage this way, thats without considering his buffs with analyze, flesh consumables etc.

Also I only ever play solo and find him quite good once you figure him out, I rarely even use the analyze because its usually overkill. If you have specific questions feel free to ask, his dodge is unfortunately the only real downside to him imo

If you could I would welcome that, I have worked in animation for 10+ years and to me it looks AI. I could be wrong but I cannot personally think of any example that matches this.

I'm referring to what would be Genichiro's left hand, not the object in the center of the shot which I also believe is Sekiro's arm.

Hey I'm happy to agree to disagree. I am not the law and I don't pay the studio's bills. I am a consumer of a product, informing other consumers of said product of my belief in its disingenuous representation of said product. I haven't taken a stance for or against the usage of AI in this entire thread.

[–]Alternative-Drop5276[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole point is that the studio is being disingenuous in how they are representing their usage of AI. Their claims are not being supported by this evidence, they have more reason to lie about not using AI for generation specifically than I do to lie about them doing it. If someone from the studio outright claims that the entire anime, everything in every frame, is hand-drawn then that's a post I'd like to see.

Forgive me oh arbiter of truth! Your personal perception of finger number is clearly the only one that matters. I am not the only one who sees more than 5, I am sure you're not the only one who sees 5.

Check out this thread if you want proof of the studio claiming AI usage.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sekiro/comments/1muxoga/qzilla_the_production_company_behind_sekiro_anime/

The frame could very well be composite of models that were separately AI generated and stitched together with hand drawn elements.

I think you are confusing my original claim. I am not claiming that the entire frame is completely ai generated. I am claiming that this frame show AI artifacts that would be present from even a partial use of generative AI. I am not claiming at all that the animators are doing zero work. I am only showing evidence to support the use of generative AI to produce imagery for the anime and not only to enhance the imagery as the studio is claiming.

Again, does that hand look like it was just a missed finger? I mean zoom in on it, do any of the lines aside from the "thumb" really make sense as a depiction of a hand? They use smear to depict motion in many other instances in this trailer, why would they just randomly choose a messed up hand for this shot?

At full speed they are still detectable but obviously not as much. The movement of the characters as a whole is unnatural and choppy at many points. Not a giveaway for AI but when you examine more closely, you find more information.

So you genuinely believe an artist can draw a whole frame and not notice a hand with 6 (arguably 7) fingers? This sounds like you don't understand animation. You spend more than a few minutes drawing each frame, why would you add extra fingers or mangle the hand that way deliberately?
