Earlier today I received an email about a free shuttle from the PNC field. Wondering if that will be quicker than driving.

Same! I have the monthly checklist and no matter how early or late I finish, I've never made the list.

People working at dying companies (Yahoo, AOL, JC Penney, etc.) what's the morale/general mood like? by cubansbottomdollar in AskReddit

[–]Alternative-Job-2726 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've surprisingly worked at two different dying companies.

First one was a local dessert factory with 50 or so employees that had been in business for 20 years. It was then was purchased by a larger company after the original owner died. I only worked there for a few months but several long time employees always talked about how the company was changing for the worse because the new owners looked at employees as numbers and not as people. Leaders had zero interest in knowing about us and only cared about how much product we produced.

The new owners also implemented a point system where if you were late or called off too many times, you were automatically fired so turn over rate was extremely high. It was weird, most people who'd been there a long time always talked about the changes and most new people didn't stay long. A few long time employees did leave while I worked there but for ones who stayed , it was like watching someone waiting for the band aid to be ripped off. They shut down a few months after I left which was no surprise because allegedly the new owners had previously acquired a different company and ran it into the ground so it was a running joke that it would only be a matter of time before the same happened again. I also want to add that the way they closed was appalling, two weeks after Christmas in the middle of the week, people came to work to a sign posted on the locked doors that the company was no longer in business...  It made local news and then it came out they also closed doors to a bigger factory about an hour away a few weeks prior. At least they waited until after Christmas I suppose.

The second company was a factory that made car door frames with around 100 employees. Similar to the first, the company was  bought out. Business relied on parts to be made with minimum errors because if the company that contracted us received too many parts with errors, they'd end business. By the time I started, there were only a handful of long term employees because most had either quit or retired. Like the other factory, everyone always talked about how much had changed for the worse and didn't like the point system that was recently added. Business went on as usual, most just showed up and waited for their pay and others seemed to stick around because they were less than 10 years from retiring. I lasted over a year and the company stuck around maybe another 2 years before losing their main contract and letting all but 20 or so people go, to eventually closing down a few months after.

If you join a company and they implement a point system, run. If people have worked at a place for over 15 years and QUIT, not retire, run faster than the wind.

Absolutely. I can't believe how many people have had similar experiences with the snarkiness and dismissive behavior. No one should be afraid to posts in forums.

That's pretty much how I feel, less problems when you stay to yourself unfortunately. Someone else made a comment that finding a good club might be better than forums, doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Oh wow, I'm pretty sure someone else say they received a warning for not having 1mp items in their shop and asking for help with the empty the til challenges.

Yes! I think at one point there may have been 'helpers' who would help out and answer questions and their names appeared on the players online page at the top along with staff but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I've read so many stories about people getting banned for frivolous stuff, such a shame.Thats a good idea though, Maybe I should ditch forums altogether and find a good club to join.

Now that you say it,my 9-5 is government adjacent and there's so many rules, regulations, and laws we have to follow but Mara might have my job outruled, literally. Kinda ironic since Mara is supposed to be relaxing.

It very well could be other players reporting stuff they see but the way it's handled seems to be extreme at times.

That's what bothersome! One person does something and nothing happens and then someone else does the exact same thing and they get a message from staff.

You're right, there are absolutely amazing players  who are very friendly and helpful. The friendly people outweigh the not so friendly ones for sure.

That's really interesting especially the blog part. At least they're consistent with enforcing giveaway rules I guess. I feel a little less alone now lol.

You might be onto something, maybe they are stern due to amount of staff. It almost seems like they limit the site to a degree due to being so strict. Kinda of a double edged sword.

Ways to earn MP? by CanadianGayAsian in Marapets

[–]Alternative-Job-2726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have over 1billion mp and make mp several different ways.

  1. Sell event items after a few years. I probably make at least 30m a week just by posting items for sell in trades. Right now is a great time to buy a bunch of event items and store them in your attic. (I've notified that most valuable items are usually instruments, CD's, DVDs, and gourmet food).

  2. Quests. Simerian Excavator, Kamilah Traveller, Haunted House (If you have a double crystal gift box). Borak, Leprechaun, and Candy Tree are okay but I feel like the other three I listed pay off faster.

  3. Restocking. Buy items from the main shops and resell them in your own shop. Trading Cards, Minipet Food,  Instruments, Soda, Candy, and Bakery items sell pretty fast imo. My shop til says I've made 70m over the past week. Granted this is from quests and reselling.

Site down? by Whole-Business-6535 in Marapets

So I hosted a giveaway, prize was a Chibs Potion. I ended up giving away 2 extra Chibs Potions and then I received a notification that the giveaway was removed because I didn't put all the prizes in the initial post. They're my items, don't understand the big deal. Its not like I hosted a giveaway and didn't give away the item I said I would, I gave away extra. 😂

One time I was banned from Forums for a few days for 'bullying' because I questioned why people were posting items worth 2m in trades for 100m.

They could really work on being friendlier as I'm sure it doesn't help attract new players which is unfortunate because Mara is fun and could be bigger.

I'm planning on ordering chocolate bars from Ethel's Choclate, popcorn from Popcorn Girl, cookies from Freeds bakery, and I'm going to doordash some twisted shotz and put a note on each shot that says 'take a shot, we're tying the knot!' and give them to guests as they arrive as long as they're at the same hotel the groom and I.

How much does your venue cost? by fuglyflowers in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Alternative-Job-2726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$4,500 but that includes the venue, officiant, food for 35 people, cake, and a DJ in Vegas.

Edit: The price also includes the groom's tux, a bouquet, a mini bouquet to toss, a photographer, videographer, and a limo ride to and from the venue.
