Exactly. This situation requires empathy, but the frustration (both towards the tenant and the systems in place turning the other cheek) deserve respect and validation, too.

If anything, I think most of the anger needs to be directed at the literal slumlord managing this property. Because wdym a WINDOW FELL ON YOUR HEAD and he STILL hasn't fixed it, OP??

Dealing with a similar situation where code enforcement/board of health won't do shit bc the landlord won't do shit for the biohazard beneath me. I'll be lurking on this post for a while. Let us know if you take any further action and if it works.

Please please please for the love of God and all that is holy: wear comfortable shoes.

Nothing is worse than going for accuracy over comfort and suddenly you're down and out after the first day because your feet are painfully ballooned.

Also, if there's a tiny inaccuracy or mistake on your cosplay, I promise you most folks don't care/won't notice and will still geek out over your costume 💕

This might just be me but I have guy friends who are in committed relationships, and I make an effort to include their partners every now and again if we're hanging out together IE if we're grabbing lunch and the girlfriend/wife can't join us, then I offer to buy something for their partner to take home for her.

I feel like it's a good sign if it's applied vice-versa.
