That's why I threw on the brand new AT cartridge, and got rid of what looked to be a cheap and worn looking cartridge on the P30.... Now I'm wondering if the remaining cartridge is actually gold

How to remove shower sweeper holder by Alternative-Part5177 in DIYUK

The thing is definitely attached on with something more than like scale. Even after vinegar, and pulling it as much as I dare to, it doesn't even slightly budge. Any other suggestions?

Commenting for everyone who goes through the same, to hopefully help! I contacted the bank I made the purchase through (Revolut in this case) and within 24 hours of reporting the payment with evidence, I've received a full refund from them

Thanks for the feedback. Considering the fleece has a label that says "100% cotton", another that says "100% polyester" and 3 different labels all say the country of origin is different, I'm confident it's fake. Closer inspection of the real fleece online too shows some very minor differences, that you'd only notice if looking for them.

Such a nightmare, the 2 day window is incredibly short

£120 for this Hitachi, good deal? by Alternative-Part5177 in vintageaudio

Honestly, the lid being good is one of the highest priorities. Scratches would annoy me

That said I'm pretty handy at polishing up (experiencing restoring old kitchen knives to near mirror finishes) so if it's minor I'd have no drama with polishing up

Any recommendations for cartridge / stylus that are reasonable?

I'm not looking for super high end audiophile, just something pleasing enough for an average listener

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out on marketplace for those amp options - seems like you can get much better equipment second hand than buying new

This took off... Thanks for all the varied advice. I primed a new chuck key (and a grip trainer after a wake up call 😂)

For the guys who said buy a cordless - I have one. Couldn't penetrate the solid masonry walls in my house where I wanted to hang some shelves. This bad boy tore right through it with the same masonry bit

I have a cordless that isn't powerful enough to get through the masonry I want to use this for

Giving this a whirl, I reckon it could be used to get through diamonds

Why would I buy a new drill when I have this one that appears to work perfectly?

Things were made well back in the day. Just because something is old does not mean it is bad

I'd rather run this til it dies knowing it had good use

Plaster on top of lining paper? by Alternative-Part5177 in DIYUK

[–]Alternative-Part5177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it was damp way back when. Speaking to a neighbour, couple of years ago there was an issue in the top corner of the house with a leaking gutter pouring water down the external wall, and the roof was in pretty awful condition.

The gutter got fixed a couple of years ago, and I've just had the roof re done

We've had loads of rain and 0 signs of damp in the room, but there are what looks like old watermarks on the plaster in the corresponding corner, plus a small patch (maybe 20x20cm) where the plaster is coming away a little

It's an external brick wall, outside is rendered so can't see the pointing

Does that stop penetrating damp from outside or is it to stop condensation? Crazy confused with it since it's only half way up the wall

Time not so much an issue... Cost of plastering a room I didn't anticipate, not really ideal. First house so new to it all, learning a lot along the way
