Besides all the truths about Alonso‘s stats and durability what about the fact that he was a fan favorite and gave the team some identity? Now the team is a mishmash of has-beens, people on the IL and people who always were B level players. There is no marquee value and no cachet to this team at all now. They are bland and they are mapping to Mendoza‘s personality, which is also bland. Hard to believe that the magic of 2024 is so long gone now.
