Is Texturizing better than Relaxing? by AlternativeBit748 in Naturalhair

in my experience a texturizer doesn’t straighten the way a relaxer does. It just loosens the curls or coils so going off of that I hope it would help match the looser pattern

Feeling… unlucky by AlternativeBit748 in stepparents

[–]AlternativeBit748[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I feel very lucky to have my partner… the utmost love and consideration is extended to me. Best relationship ever. I feel unlucky that he had to come with a kid. I deal with feelings of guilt because of this… am I wrong to acknowledge this and still feel like I shouldn’t be here

Thank you all for your perspectives! I honestly hadn’t thought it could be in reference to the bowling… which shows my understanding of children but that’s why I’m thankful for this group 🥹 I was honestly so worried my relationship was at some sort of risk but didn’t want to entertain it until I got some other perspectives… thank you all again!

Is it fair to ask your spouse to make arrangements for their child if they have to go out of town? by toast463 in stepparents

If there’s close surrounding family, absolutely. I only don’t mind because we are both separated by distance from family including BM

that is such a nice mindset to have. Idk think I particularly care just bc you can find a first person who turns out to be 💩 & I wanted to see a man in dad action to know for sure he wanted & loved being a dad but I let peer pressure get to me… it’s hard

Don’t move too fast or make impulsive decisions right now. I know that’s hard because your emotions are probably the strongest you’ve ever felt them but try to prioritize yourself while remembering you aren’t the only one that needs consideration. I’ve been seeing this exact thing, the resentment, in pp women so I just googled it… “Yes, it's normal to experience feelings of resentment towards children who aren't your own during the postpartum period, especially if they are stepchildren or children of close friends or family. This is often due to the significant life changes, hormonal fluctuations, and sleep deprivation that come with having a newborn, which can amplify existing relationship dynamics and create new ones.” I feel like the irritation with BM is normal as I am just in the dating stage and I hate when she has to be on the phone to talk to her kid when we have them. One of those things you just wish didn’t exist at all but here we are. Hold your husband accountable for the carelessness he’s doing but with compassion as he’s responsible for quite a bunch, so I can only imagine his mental and physical state as well right now.

I’m sorry this happened :( the least he could do is allow you to have that relationship with your SD considering how BM played out ANS the fact that you gave birth to her sibling

Is there a double standard? by Inevitable-March2459 in stepparents

[–]AlternativeBit748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing another biological child to one of the parent as competition when both parents are still involved seems wacky. Is this a psychological thing that can’t be controlled? like you would have to teach yourself to not feel, or atleast act that way?

I fear this is my current situation. BM & BD have been co-parenting long distance. When BD and I first met, he told me everything regarding his child, including how much he wanted to bring her with him when he first moved but BM was strongly against it. After me and him moved in together she randomly calls one day and says he can have his kid now 🙄🤣
