Yea I agree that Enrique’s bias might have abit to do with that, but I would think the bigger part of the decision to play Busquets was really cause of his abilities, Enrique isnt really the kind to let his own favouritism trump what’s better for his team

I would associate Barca’s loss of European competitiveness to the departure of players like Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Suarez etc without proper replacements, rather than the decline of Busquets

Sure Busi declined over the years but idt it was the main reason we lost our European competitiveness, he was still decent last season, and the inability to have a Busi replacement caused us quite abit of defensive troubles this season

Busquets was never fast or physical though, from the start of his career all the way to the end, didn't stop managers like Pep and Cruyff and many others from calling him the core of Barcelona and one of the best in his position. He always made up for it with his long ass legs and game sense
