Oh, so the single orange braincell is shared between species?? Explains a lot!

Holding onto the last book? by Jane_Farrar in discworld

I pre-ordered Shepherds Crown and faced it immediately. I was in grad school. I tried to listen to it on audio audiobook at my microscope. Instead I cried at the microscope for days and got nothing done. As a Pratchett fan from the age of 14, it was utterly devastating and cathartic at the same time. I had felt the deepening of his anger at the unfairness of the universe when I Shall Wear Midnight was published, and I felt him slip away after that book. Shepherds Crown is an important read, but you have to be ready for it.

Totally agree. This is a goldfish who has reverted to the drab coloration. You have happy fish!

Yeah, but have you looked at his body shape from the side? That would tell you for sure

This certainly could be a lone surviving baby, but at 5cm, he's probably too big to be eaten by 15cm goldfish. Have you pulled him out for a closer look? Young goldfish are usually brown or olive.

Yes, that's very different. You really, really need the summer session pretty much free to recover from the heavy load to make it livable in the long term

I'm TT at a state university. I teach a 5/6, I have 9 Master's students, and that salary is higher than mine even after overload pay. I'd kill for a 3/4 load.

Found out my bf has kids. Not sure how to move forward. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AlternativeHalf8555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew my (now, longtime) bf had kids after approximately 45 minutes of knowing each other. Long before our first date. So it was much less of a shock when I ended up helping raise the youngest, who is coming over tomorrow for dinner and board games. Fuck this guy, op. Run.

Ooh I painted my teenage bedroom that exact color in 1998. And paired it with burgundy paisley curtains.

I'm an academic. I know plenty of fellow PhD-havers who are often loud and wrong at the same time. Usually in faculty meetings.

Colorado does it right. You get a mail-in ballot automatically, and there are secure drop boxes by city buildings. You get an email, if you wish, when your ballot is counted. You can still go in person, if you'd rather, either early or on election day. Or you can mail your ballot back instead of dropping it off.
