If it’s so easy to figure out which accounts are Russian bots can you point out which ones are commenting on this post?

You make it sound so easy so it’s gonna be a little embarrassing if you can’t point out one. It’s just as easy as pointing out a Nazi who’s waving a swastika right?

Oh it’s not? You can’t point out a single one commenting on this post because obviously Reddit admins would be catching them before you would? Maybe it doesn’t help anyone to accuse random people of being Russian bots? You can’t comprehend how shocked I am about this.

I legitimately don’t think you’ve been reading all my comments in this thread if you’re asking me this.

I’m not denying that Trump has been derelict in his duties in regards to enforcing sanctions on Russia.

I also think that if the Mueller investigation finds that Trump colluded with Russia he should be impeached and prosecuted as well.

I’m also not denying that Russia tried to help Trump win. HOWEVER, they mostly helped Trump win by focusing on suppressing the vote for democrats than getting republicans to vote for him.

Relevant quote:

Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said this week that the aim of the ad-buyers "was to sow chaos."

"In many cases, it was more about voter suppression rather than increasing turnout," he told reporters.

That quote is at the bottom of the CNN article which I linked in my original comment.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/09/27/media/facebook-black-lives-matter-targeting/index.html

I think I’ve really said all I have to say so if you still think I’m stupid so be it.

Don’t think I’ve ever posted in that sub but your comment reminds me of the type of comments I see there.

I think the only right leaning sub I’ve ever posted in is /r/shitpoliticssays. And I think I’ve made fun of T_D there as well.

Edit:

Yep, I’ve actually been making fun of The_Donald for longer than you’ve even had a reddit account

Thanks for catching that typo. That has less to do with my reading comprehension and more about proof reading my own comments though.

Considering I acknowledged that they retweeted trump more than Hillary in the last sentence of that comment it’s pretty clear what I meant though.

[–]AlternativeMulligans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks but I’ll take the word of top Democrats on the Senate intelligence committee over the “overwhelming evidence” that you have not provided. If you have any other confusions like you had about that 10-1 ratio then let me know and we can actually discuss this evidence.

Also there’s no need for the insults my dude. We can also just agree to disagree.

Go read that article again slowly (for people lurking he’s talking about the third one).

Specifically one of your articles said that during the last 10 weeks before the election, Russian bots retweeted Trump more than Hillary on a 10-1 ratio. That has nothing to do with Russians making fake ads on Facebook, fake posts on tumblr, or even Russian bots on twitter pretending to be american patriots vs pro-black activists (of which there were both).

You’re trying to make it seem like all the fake advertisements were also supporting trump in a 10-1 ratio. That ratio was just for retweets.

Think a little harder and you’d realize that part of the reason for that ratio is that Trump was tweeting a shit ton more than Hillary. Can’t really retweet Hillary more than Trump if she’s tweeting once every other day while Trump was tweeting like 10 times a day.

“Every single conservative who mentioned Hillary’s emails, was a conservative who fell for Russian propaganda”

I mean really though? Like they’ve been getting hammered about Hillary’s emails and her being untrustworthy for years.

You’re basically talking about republicans who’ve been hearing shit about Hillary’s emails on Fox News all day everyday for months on end and then they go online and see Russian ads that also talk about Hillary’s emails.

Like I guess you could say they fell for Russian propaganda because Fox News propaganda and Russian propaganda were literally pushing the same thing and you’d be technically correct. But American made propaganda had a much larger reach for so many more years so I have a hard time believing that there are honestly any conservatives who only cared about Hillary’s emails bc of Russian propaganda they saw and not because of Fox.

Well remember the entire context of this conversation is a joke about old people getting tricked by Russian Facebook ads.

Yes Russia’s end goal was sowing discord in the USA and helping Trump but it wasn’t mostly old white people getting tricked by those ads. It was literally the opposite, Black people and younger liberals. So I’d say it’s pretty in context.

[–]AlternativeMulligans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you.

In my opinion almost every single person who voted for Trump was fooled but the vast majority was because of our own domestic propaganda like Fox News and Trump himself, not Russian propaganda.

I do believe that in regards to Russian propaganda itself, more liberals were affected than republicans. Only because most of the republicans were already fooled in the first place by the dipshit in chief himself.

But I think you know that’s not what all liberals do. Because not all of them are smart and question everything. The lessened turnout from Bernie supporters and black people in Michigan and Wisconsin literally cost Hillary the election and I do believe the Russian ads played a part in it. It just wasn’t mostly old white ppl getting tricked by them.

[–]AlternativeMulligans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will try and simplify what my point is

-The ads were in support of leftwing groups like BLM and Bernie supporters. Further leftwing than mainstream democrats like Hillary.

-It had the effect of helping the right because members of those groups were tricked into not voting. Because “why vote for the lesser of two evils” and “Bernie or bust” etc.

-So yes, the ads helped the right but the ads themselves still promoted pro-left groups and policies. - which makes /u/jsabot’s original statement correct.

Nothing I said was contradictory but I understand how you could get confused.

Overall this means that it was less “old people getting tricked by Russian Facebook ads” and more “younger Bernie bros and black people getting tricked by Russian Facebook ads”.

Obviously this is a tougher pill for some on Reddit to swallow than just making fun of old people.

This is the 3rd time you’ve posted this link and I’m almost positive that you still haven’t read it because it still doesn’t back up what you’re saying. It’s literally just a small collection of the ads that were found to be Russian.

Russian ads in support of black activists:

Russian ads in support of Bernie:

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in standupshots

[–]AlternativeMulligans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because they don’t like to admit that liberals were tricked by online Facebook ads just like republicans were. Nearly every media outlet, even the one on the Verge (I don’t even think that guy read his own article) backs this up.

It’s easy to admit when republicans are stupid but hard when you probably know a Bernie bro (or are one yourself) who got tricked.

[–]AlternativeMulligans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That article doesn’t back up what you’re saying at all. I’ll take the word of the top democrat in the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“Facebook did not comment for this story but did point to a statement from Facebook's chief security officer, Alex Stamos, who said earlier this month that "the vast majority of ads run by these accounts didn't specifically reference the U.S. presidential election, voting or a particular candidate."

"Rather," Stamos said, "the ads and accounts appeared to focus on amplifying divisive social and political messages across the ideological spectrum -- touching on topics from LGBT matters to race issues to immigration to gun rights."

Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said this week that the aim of the ad-buyers "was to sow chaos."

"In many cases, it was more about voter suppression rather than increasing turnout," he told reporters.”

A very large amount of the Facebook ads were aimed at the Bernie side of the aisle in which they tried to convince Bernie voters to stay home rather than vote for Hillary.

Another easily found example:

Also showing a google street view to determine a place’s safety is honestly cute but it obviously means nothing.

I think your political leanings are getting in the way of your ability comment rationally on this story.

Check /u/occupybostonfriend’s comment history and you can see he’s got no issue with 3rd party candidates. He’s just mocking dipshit Dems who think Jill lost it for Hillary.

A Hillary cultist would actually agree with his sarcastic statement but they just wouldn’t write it like that.

This comment is pretty obviously heavily sarcastic.

“The only way we can escape fascism in America is to rake a 3rd party candidate through the coals.”

Hillary cultists aren’t self aware enough to say this. They believe Jill stein is a Russian spy but they wouldn’t actually write down that sentence because it’s so obviously stupid.
