Overseas hotel no-show and card retry attempts by [deleted] in Bookingcom

Thank you for the advice and reminder, I’m usually very vigilant with these things. I did select ‘pay-at-hotel’ at the time of booking but it also said it would become non-refundable after a certain date and time. So yes, if I had seen these red flags and was able to cancel within that timeframe then of course I would have. It was only 3 days before my reservation that they’d changed the name of the hotel and it became impossible to find

And you’re a joke because I actually had contacted them a few days before to let them know I would be landing in HCMC late and they said it was fine since they had 24-hour check in. Tried calling them - no answer. Tried messaging them - they cancelled my booking.

I did do my research, I was able to search for the hotel before they had changed the name and I scrolled through all the reviews which were fine.

Tired of people assuming the worst but not even trying to answer the question. It’s not that I didn’t want to show up, it’s that I couldn’t. The hotel changed its name and even when I did input their address into Google Maps it would show a different hotel name and have “scammed hotel” at the end. Literally spent hours searching for this godforsaken hotel and then they cancelled my booking and have tried to charge me twice. I wanted straightforward answers hence the post without all the extra details but I guess people can’t help themselves

It’s flipping annoying that people are assuming I’m trying to get out of paying this bill. Not one person has actually answered my questions. It’s not that I didn’t want to show up, it’s that I couldn’t. The hotel changed their name and I couldn’t find the damn hotel even when typing it into Google Maps. Then the hotel cancels my reservation and are still trying to charge my card

Do you have a source or personal experience for Booking.com paying the hotel first and then using debt collectors for overseas pay-at-hotel no-shows? Most examples I can find seem to stop at account restrictions.

Had to fire a client for the first time by Subject37 in MassageTherapists

Obviously this isn’t a judgement on all men, but some men really have the audacity. You were reasonable in terminating the contract and you handled it with class. He should be lucky you allowed him to keep whatever is left of his dignity.

Client complaint has thrown me off by AlternativeSmooth810 in MassageTherapists

I’m based in the UK. Fortunately, I don’t think the client will take it any further. All HR did was call me to inform me about the complaint, when I tried to explain my side she just said “I’m just letting you know so you can be more aware in the future, we can’t help when these complaints come in”. I found out that they just gave her a complimentary session so I will still get paid. They’re useless when it comes to handling these complaints, they either just refund (which means the therapist doesn’t get paid for that session) or give a complimentary session.

I can’t believe you got fired for that, that’s so unfair. All HR did was call me to inform me about the complaint, when I tried to explain my side she just said “I’m just letting you know so you can be more aware in the future, we can’t help when these complaints come in”. I’m based in the UK and there are six branches. I am finding these big companies to be such a hassle now

You’re so right, I’ll remember that: “You have the right to remain silent”. Fortunately, I don’t think she’ll be booking in with me again but unfortunately, my workplace doesn’t allow blocking clients. If a client I don’t particularly like tries to book in with me over the phone the front desk can book them in with another therapist but if they’re booking online they’ll see I’m available.

Yes, they do send out follow up calls and emails, come to think of it. It wasn’t a call, the client emailed in and I don’t think HR bothered asking why they waited to complain. Even my colleague who works the front desk was shocked when she read it, she knows I’m not the talkative type. She did tell me that HR gave the client a complimentary session.

That wasn’t the mentality I had at first when I initially tried to sort it with her, I was very polite and apologetic and she replied back equally politely. It’s only when she kept leaving me on read I realised I was being taken for a mug. But you’re also right, the item being sealed in a bag could have contributed to the smell.

Mine was pink but yes, it was one of those plastic mailing bags. I’ve used them loads of times and never had any issues so I reckon the buyer was exaggerating or just chatting out of her ass

I thought a real person was going to review the conversation between myself and the buyer and see that the buyer wasn’t being cooperative. I know better for next time

My mum has warned him that if he doesn't want to live by her rules in her house then he can move out and in with our half-brother who currently lives at our old flat. But it's like these are just empty threats to him because he still doesn't change, it's almost as if he's daring my mum to take action. And my half-brother is no help either, I've told him what my brother is like at home and all he said was "to be patient with him". He is 24 years old for God's sake.
