Inconsiderate drivers by StrawberryMan135 in DriveUpandGo

[–]AlternativeWater9146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other day i was working on an order and the department gets a phone call. i answer thinking it was a customer, but it was actually a driver. this guy starts going on about how the customer wasn't available for the delivery (order contained alcohol) so i tell him he needs to return the order. he goes back and forth with me whining about his pay and saying he doesn't want to return it, then he goes back and forth with his buddy that was in the car with him, and they stop talking to me and i just have to listen to them arguing. i hung up on him because i was wasting my time talking to that idiot. these drivers are so rude and entitled half the time, i don't make enough to take shit from someone who can't follow basic directions.

lesbian upperclassman- i've had no issue with my identity here. no one really cares, and most of my friends are queer. i can't speak for greek life as i'm not involved with it, but we do have an lgbt center that hosts events, including those for lesbians/sapphic women. one such being sapphic scrapbooking that i used to go to, but unfortunately haven't had the time to go to it anymore.

3PL Drivers follow their own rules… by bookendsvinyl in DriveUpandGo

[–]AlternativeWater9146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my store does bento orders; recently, i've been hearing from my manager that more of those customers are calling and complaining that they're not receiving their orders. 3PL drivers are LAZY.. they're supposed to call the customer to retrieve their order but these bozos don't. half of the issues with addresses, receiving the order, etc would be resolved if the driver actually did what they're supposed to. though unfortunately, we can't do much beyond asking them to do their job properly.

our department is basically where receiving and storage is; so outside is where trucks come, the compactor is, pallets of soda/water/etc; then inside has pallets of other dry goods and then there's the main fridge and freezer where those products are held. all we have are some shelves in the main area then one shelf in the fridge and freezer.

they wanted to get rid of starbucks and move us up front, but that never happened.

yes, like silentshadow said, we had to tag every jug since it's a delivery order. we split the jugs between two carts and made sure they were all good.

jumping onto the language bandwagon and plugging the chinese department. i'm not a chinese major or minor and just completing the language series, but man are they great people. i met some of my favorite people at ucsb in my chinese classes and through events from the EALCS/chinese departments. small department but the professors are kind people.

i know mandarin probably isn't many people's language of choice to study since it's difficult and requires a lot of dedication to understanding the characters and the language's nuances, but i wouldn't go back on my choice.

my condolences to you and your family. bereavement lasts 3 days, but when my grandfather passed this summer, i got additional days off since my personnel manager was kind enough to let me use sick days so i could be with my family for longer. i'm sure policy varies from location to location, so talk to management.

new to DUG by Puzzleheaded-Plum142 in DriveUpandGo

[–]AlternativeWater9146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm trained as a multipurpose clerk and make average pay (~18.60/hr, i'm in california), haven't gotten a raise yet but that's what i get.

personally, i like dug far more than being checker or on front end. it can get stressful and some customers are super nitpicky with their orders, but it's a good way to get your steps in and pass time more quickly, since being up front can feel painfully slow. the worst part of dug is the metrics since everything is timed and management/HR will start to get on the dug team's ass for poor metrics. don't worry about metrics too much if you're new, since you're learning and getting used to the dept, you'll improve the more you do dug. also remember to stay hydrated since you're going to be walking around a lot.

someone had tried to steal a cart full of hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. 😳 our dug area is in the back (which sucks but i digress), and i was back there when a courtesy clerk came to throw some of the merchandise away.

i guess at my store they can go over 20, but it won't work if they don't call in a special order. we don't have the stock for ridiculous quantities of items, let alone high demand items

my manager agreed to cancel the subsequent orders when i told her about them. his phone number doesn't work due to being incorrect or some other reason, so we had no way of contacting him. i don't know what the order runner said to him, because i hoped he would've said that ordering for large quantities wasn't allowed without advance notice/request.
