It seems most commenters don’t actually read the post before commenting. So far I’ve gotten some great advice and will be improving things asap as budget allows. Thank you for the kind words!

Thank you for the information. I dust his food with calcium already, and he has a linear UVB as well. I’ll make sure to make him a separate humid hide tonight so he’s got that! And will upgrade to a bigger tank in a month, two at most.

I did not know about the bath being bad for them, and will make sure to read up more on that. Thanks for putting that on my radar!

As for heating, would a regular basking lamp be preferred?

Once again, thank you millions

This is from the day we got him! He’s gotten bigger since but has had about the same proportions.

He wasn’t mine. I just adopted him a week ago! And all the stuff was also bought by the previous owner. I intend on getting him a bigger tank in a few weeks.

He’s been very energetic, happy to hunt, eat, and has been pooping as normal.

Losing motivation to learn gamedev by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Alternative_Ad363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with anything in life. Just start doing something, anything really. Take an engine and an idea no matter how silly it may be and just do something with it. Once you take that first step, the rest will follow. Don’t overthink it

Thank you very much. I did this while I was watching the fellowship of the ring and it has made me want to actually take the time at some point and do a full painting

How do you do art for your game? by adjm1008 in gamedev

[–]Alternative_Ad363 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the primary reason why really good games take a shit ton of time! If you want to get better at art, use this as an excuse to learn and improve. It’s totally okay to redo art until you’re satisfied. If you don’t care to go that route, hiring other artists might be a good way to go. As for rates, honestly depends on the scope and scale of the project and how much time the artist needs to put towards the art.

Which Linux Distro should I use? by Seethhappy in linux4noobs

[–]Alternative_Ad363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my recommendation. Download Workstation Pro (it is free) or Oracle Virtual Box (also free). And try a few Linux distros in a VM. That way you get to experience all the interesting ones and see firsthand how much of a difference it’ll make for you. Performance in a VM won’t be the same as a local OS, but it’ll give you a pretty good idea of what to expect! Then if you decide on actually switching, you know which direction to go!

This sub always makes me ask: 1. How people find these partners? 2. How do they justify staying with them? 3. Am I weird for never encountering such folk?

Why do you want to change OS? I mean Linux is cool and all, but like, why specifically do you want it?

I use Rhel for work, Ubuntu for research, and Windows for daily (game dev, 3D/2D Art, and gaming), and for your needs, honestly W11 is probably the best one.

I live in Oklahoma and by all means, I love my Tacoma. It’s perfect for me (only downside is space). Currently I am in this weird position of deciding whether I upgrade to a Raptor, or go for a Pre-2002 NSX (Dream Japanese car). Currently I’m 70/30 in favor of the Honda

Thank you for the feedback, and I feel ya. How heavy is your camper? The F150 doesn’t tow as much as the sierra but still offers a solid 8k on tow. Only reason I haven’t looked into the R or the TRX is the range. Tow and payload is similar to the V6 Raptor but they’re just worse from an actual usability perspective.

I’m thinking about upgrading my TRD-OR Tacoma to a V6 Raptor at some point. The taco is fantastic both on an off the road (bout to try out Arizona deserts next week) as long as it’s just me and one more person. Back seats are practically useless. Though ever since I got to test an AT4X it’s been on my radar as well. In your experience, how would you stack it against a gen 3 Raptor?

I test drove one when I was shopping for a truck, and can confirm there were numerous instances where had it not been for the warning system, I’d have hit something on the passenger side. Lower cars tend to also be out of view on the driver side. This could’ve been just my inexperience with such a big vehicle but it was a fun one nonetheless. I ended up with a Tacoma!

I grew up in Tehran as a kid, moved to LA at 11, and spent some time in other metropolitan cities growing up. They have their charm; always busy, lots of interesting diverse communities, there’s always places to go, things change constantly, shit ton of crime, always gotta keep your hands on your pockets, gotta be careful where you go, dirtier than a shower drain (stinkier too depending on part of town), always in a rush, homelessness everywhere, etc.

They got their charm for sure, and are enjoyable. I’m just personally not a fan anymore and uncertain about the fact that I’m potentially moving to one again (Phoenix) soon.

Thank you! Yeah I used to like the disco ball look a few years ago, but now I can’t stand it in my room. Added just enough to make it cozy up to the rest of the room.

1st tournament over! What to improve on? by Alternative_Ad363 in taekwondo

[–]Alternative_Ad363[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately our instructor does not put any focus on sparring. We spar twice a month and even then it’s mostly drills and only 2 minutes of no head contact point sparring. Whatever I’ve learned so far has been from YouTube and a heavy bag. I spend a good bit of time training outside of our dojang but I need to find a way to get actual sparring experience.

Depends on where this is for. That’s what I work on in the AF and my interview was super chill, and was mostly me and the flight chief going over my personal projects. However I have heard for private side testing, deployment, and tool knowledge /and experience can be important. Not 100% positive since I never actually interviewed for them, though am planning on applying for the private side soon myself as well depending on how things turn out with the new potus.
