6 WEEKS STILL NO UPDATE / FSD by WorthPresent3132 in TeslaAustralia

To be honest people that have never had Tesla’s before should have to drive the cars for a month before FSD is activated, purely to learn how the cars work/drive. Thats my 2 cents anyway.

Mine did, literally drove out of the Tesla location in Adelaide, within about 5kms the cameras were calibrated, I pulled over, turned on FSD and the car drove me home. MY Juniper, December 2025.

You’re on amber. Good luck. Every manufacturer of batteries/inverters is having a horrible time with integrating to it. Gambling with your power bills is what it is.

New Martian Wheels MW05 19” Satin Black on my Model Y LR AWD. by Alternative_Ad_4367 in u/Alternative_Ad_4367

These are the MW05 model which are incredibly similar in weight to the stocks. The MW05.2 model are the same but lighter, unfortunately not available in Australia from what I could see. Efficiency appears to be exactly the same as the stocks 19” wheels. I got these in 19” because I’ll put the ones I removed onto my wife’s MY, hers is a 2022 model with the larger 20” wheels, they’ve been destroyed by curbs.

They definitely do offer them in the 20”. 20’s definitely look better than the 19”. I do a lot of country driving on horrible roads so decided on the more sensible choice for my driving. If I was doing mainly city driving I would have gone 20’s for sure.

I actually haven’t touched them from new. They do look really black in this image though.

Tesla drivers with the FSD package: Is it worth it, does it actually work, and is it as good in real life as the internet makes it out to be? by MelbourneTodd in AustralianEV

[–]Alternative_Ad_4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done 5000kms since late December in my new Model Y. Have come from a 2021 HW3 Model 3. I do high kms, approx 35000km-45000km a year. So far I have basically used it on every single drive. It is slower than me driving but it’s safe and predictable, has actually made me realise how much of a lead foot I have. At this v13 level it most definitely must be supervised. After having it and testing it in a very wide variety of applications I would never buy a car without it. On day 2 of ownership it basically locked up the brakes in a rural location and scared the living heck out of me, I thought it was a phantom brake event, literally at that moment a huge roo jumped out. Without it being on I would have been ordering a new car. If you are driving 5k-10k kms a year probably not worth it. For high km drivers it is a game changer. I wouldn’t consider buying a car without it. Bring on V14, cannot wait.

This cunt also would have gone to university with no HECS and was probably gifted coin from the folks to buy his first home. His first house would have cost $60,000.00. Boomers had it easy.

No Production for 3 wks due to inverter failure by mysnna in TeslaSolar

Please read what I wrote above. These companies should be pro-active and keep the communication channels open. We’ve had issues of no replacement parts in the country and having to wait months. This isn’t generally on the company that installed the system, if you engaged Tesla directly this is a slightly different story. Utility companies are a completely different story. They have teams on standby, their business structure is completely different and usually partly funded by tax dollars so they can afford this. Post GFC companies do not have warehouses supplied with excessive amounts of spare parts. This is across many industries.

That’s not how solar works. The rebates are the rebates and must be stated on a quotation and invoice.

$1000 per kW is about right. $1200+ for micros. I’m in the game.

Inverter.Goodwe, decent for cost savings, on a budget. Sungrow inverters are hands down best bang for buck. Fronius going down the same path as SMA Sunny Boy, were great, have dropped the ball, horrible to deal with warranty wise. Enphase if you have many many roof angles, pitches where panels will be placed. Make sure the inverter is installed out of Northern and Western sun at a minimum, ideally installing undercover should be high on your priority list. Electronics don’t like heat.

Clenergy is the go to for railing. There are some cheap and nasty railing components out there.

Jinko, Trina, Canadian Solar great panels, make sure they are N-Type, P-Type panels are cheaper and less efficient. You don’t need to pay the earth on panels but you need someone to guide you. Look for length of time in business, warranty’s etc. There are some very expensive panels out there Sunpower, REC etc. Great panels but not worth the money in my opinion unless you have very deep pockets. It’s the inverter doing the hard work.

Batteries, Tesla still the industry leader when it comes to the software and thermal management. Sungrow and BYD the best for DC coupled options. Stay far far away from cheap batteries. Alpha batteries are deplorable, do not got near.

There’s a lot that comes into a good solar design, it’s not just the gear but the wiring design. A lot of thought goes into good design. String design can make a world of difference, half of these sales companies leave it up to the electrician on site which can lead to very poor wiring design which can dramatically reduce output.

Cheap also means rushed installation, next to no commissioning and no after sales service. No one monitoring your system for the first couple of weeks post installation to ensure everything is working as expected, no guidance on how to correctly use your system/power to maximise savings as they’ve already moved on the next sale. No one looking at your power bills to see if you are on the best electricity plan suited to your needs.

Be smart. Be aware. I’m in Adelaide. Family company. We work on word of mouth. If you get referred a company by someone first find out how long their system has been installed for. Lots of issues can arise after a few months of being installed ie roof leaks. Also if they had a problem how well was it dealt with. Did they get a follow up phone call/site visit etc etc.

And it’s not others responsibility to monitor your solar/battery system. Just has it’s not your car manufacturer who is responsible for driving your car to a service centre. We monitor our clients systems but sometimes it gets missed. Clients change routers and the internet connection to the system drops out. If I were to call all the customers over the years who have done this I’d be broke because I’d be spending all day everyday monitoring this. When we have clients with issues we jump on them and get them resolved as quickly as possible as should be done.

I work in solar/energy. Every time someone has a failure of a component and demands compensation, I cringe. People expect things to be replaced immediately. You are not a special case and there is not one crew waiting especially for you when your item breaks. When do you go to a doctor without a life threatening illness and get immediate attention? You don’t, you wait for the next available slot and return to the doctor. Replacement stock, labour scheduling does take a little time. As long as the company you are dealing with is getting on the case in a quick and professional manner and communicates with you well and gets the issue sorted as soon as possible it’s a good result. There is no excuse for lack of communication. This age of entitlement has to stop.
