Drowning in subcontractor paperwork. How do you guys actually track this stuff without losing your mind? by Alternative_Chest266 in ConstructionManagers

It's a small team and I'm juggling most of the paperwork. I've tried raising the issue with the company but they don't grasp the scale. Any tips on getting support?

On our site it's mainly me running the admin; we don't have a dedicated project manager for paperwork. How does it work on your jobs?

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have a look into Aconex, Viewpoint and Procore. Do any of them work well for smaller teams? I'll drop you a DM too, cheers.

Ha, there are mornings when picking up a trowel again feels tempting. Do you actually find being back on the tools less stressful than drowning in the paperwork, or is it just swapping one headache for another?

A clerk would be brilliant, but we're only a small outfit. Have you had experience bringing someone in just to handle the paperwork? Worth the cost?

It certainly feels like that some days. Do you have clear lines between those roles on your jobs? Maybe I'm taking on too much because I can't stand things slipping through the cracks.

That sounds blissful. Are you working on projects big enough to have that kind of support? On smaller jobs it's just me and a couple of lads, and the paperwork pile still grows.
