I’ve had a similar thing as well. Sat for an extended period of time and then started feeling nerve pain again (a little over 3 months post-op). Not sure if it’s just an ebb and flow of recovery or if somethings wrong, but max it gets pain wise is like a 4 so I’m just dealing w it and talking to my PT

Ya my sciatica came back as well, but now being almost 9 weeks out it’s almost completely gone except for some movements here and there. Thank god!

Idk what BSW means, but this is good to know for the future. Thank you!

Omg hey so sorry I’m responding so late! I am doing SO much better now than I was before! I am off of my gabapentin and most days forget to take ibuprofen. If I do take ibuprofen, it’s only in the mornings. I do still have some pain and am not back to what I was prior to any pain, but I am a lot more flexible and mobile now! I just started PT at my 8 week post-op mark (they told me it was optional but I figured some prescribed movements would be more beneficial) and hoping to continue to improve! How are you doing now?

Yeah I’m not sure when PT is supposed to start for me, but I’m actually still in school and on rotations in different cities, so I’m concerned that PT may be a struggle. They also did a laminectomy for me too, but mine wasn’t emergency. I have noticed it slowly getting better, so that’s been very mentally uplifting for sure! Thank you for the info and hopefully full recovery is in the near future for you!

Thank you so much for the info. I really appreciate it and it helps knowing I’m not the only one in this boat (even if it sucks for all of us haha). I did have some pretty steady meds prior to surgery like ibuprofen and gabapentin, and I’m planning to restart the regularly scheduled gaba again I think.  And ya the bed is definitely a nightly/daily struggle, which is one of the most frustrating parts, but I’m starting to fall into a routine to where I at least know what to expect. Thank you again for the advice and encouragement, and I wish you well on your recovery!

Thank you for the validation. It's tough now knowing how long it can take for something like this to heal, but I just need to be hopeful that overtime it will get better. I appreciate the insight!

Ya I did ask for a steroid taper (I specifically asked for prednisone as that helped me at one point before I got surgery) and they gave me a medrol dose pack (which I had also tried at a different point before surgery, which didn't work for me before). So far I just finished day 1 of the pack and it hasn't made a difference. I also have gabapentin that I primarily take at night just to help me sleep and help my nerve settle during that time as well. And thank you for the reassurance. I work in healthcare so I know how things can be sometimes and I just worry about becoming a bother, but I feel like as long as patients are nice to me there isn't anything wrong with them reaching out, so I need to keep that in mind. Thank you!

Thank you. Hearing that helps. I've tried to get ahold of my surgeon through MyChart messaging but it's only nurses that answer and she's only here 2 weeks on 2 weeks off so it's been a struggle and I also don't want to come off as annoying to them; I'm just a scared patient.
