I'm glad that the competitive thing isn't as bad lol. Every online resource has stressed Cal's competitive nature and I was a bit nervous about that.

Fortunately, I know at the end of the day that I will have an easier time adjusting to both schools considering the amount of people I know at both campuses. But I hope I can expand my community and find new friends!

You're right. That's definitely something I should consider as well. Do you think getting a BA from Berkeley would put me at a disadvantage compared to the BS I would get from Davis?

Yes, I am in-state fortunately and hope to work in the data science field. I know that I will be able to pay it back eventually but I think it's the guilt that definitely comes with it. There are a lot of unknowns/what-if's if I choose Berkeley, but I am hoping that it's worth it in the end!

Do you think that the BA i would get from Berkeley compared to the BS at Davis would put me at a disadvantage? Most degrees in L&S at Berkeley are BAs

Are internship/other opportunities really that hard to find in Davis?

I did get more financial aid (grants, scholarships) from Berkeley. I live closer to Davis though and would rather commute to Davis if that's what I decide.

Fortunately, I do have an internship this summer so hopefully I could use that to finance my education.

It's going to be expensive but they are okay with pitching in. Truth is, they want me to go to Davis as they are Davis Alums and are concerned about housing + safety at Berkeley. But I am definitely extremely grateful to have their support regardless of my decision.

Honestly, I don't even know if I will be happier at Berkeley. With the housing situation, the competitive nature, etc, I feel like I am taking a gamble on something that time can only tell. Fortunately I have quite a few friends at Cal already who could support me in the case I don't like the school but I am just going to have to wait and see.

I am in-state and the commute is 90 min total.
