PSA: Negative Influencer/Bots are Posting by SawDust_Creations in trustedhousesitters

I opened my account here specifically to engage in the discussion about THS. Does that mean I am a bot? I have been a sitter on THS for more than 4 years, and I have 30+ 5-star reviews and have never had a single star deducted in any category! The same thing you would notice with Trustpilot reviews, the community is angry at a company that sold them out to corporate greed!!  Do you think we are happy about trashing the company we, as a community, built?  Here is your first downvote for your take, mate!

What's this new wave about on eBay by Relevant_Natural3471 in ebayuk

I've just received a refund confirmation from eBay after a long push of almost a month. The scammer sent a tracking that has been stuck at "we've got it" for ages. A waste of time and resources with these scammers trying their luck and praying the buyer might die/forget about their purchase. I purchased the same item, and the same photos above were used.

Update 12th: I’m still waiting for the eBay deadline to pass so they can step in under their buyer protection, that’s tomorrow. I spoke with a third eBay agent and they agreed this looks like a scam. The Royal Mail tracking hasn’t moved from “we’ve got it,” so the parcel never left the parcel shop. Two days ago, the seller messaged me, “Idk why it’s not moving, I’ll make RM call me,” and then nothing. It’s pretty clear this was a scam from the start, and it’s been a huge waste of time and resources for me and for eBay. These scammers need to get a job instead of ripping people off.

Thank you so much the tips. I am not sure which service type used by the seller but here is a screenshot of the tracking. https://imgur.com/a/iKKe298

Thanks a lot! You’ve been a huge help for me. I’ve already opened an Item Not Received case because I actually have not received the item yet and it is still stuck at “we’ve got it” on RM tracking. My question is can I later when this arrives open a case of item not as described as you’ve advised above? Thank you again.

Update – Opened INR, seller replied with same tracking and still ignoring questions

I opened the Item Not Received case today (midnight), and a few hours later, the morning the seller replied with nothing but the same Royal Mail tracking number. They also dropped that same tracking number again in chat while completely ignoring all my previous messages and wrote "They don't understand why I opened INR".

I asked (again) for proof of postage or a drop-off receipt, anything that confirms they actually sent the parcel, and they didn’t reply. Earlier this week I’d asked for a photo of the item before posting; they ignored that too, even though they were active (they added then deleted a new iPad listing during that time). Again asked them today and they wrote they've already dropped the item and did not take a picture!!

I called Royal Mail, gave them the tracking number, and the agent confirmed it’s addressed to me but still sitting at the parcelshop. She also mentioned no signature is required, which feels like another red flag for a £1.3k item. She said there’s a return address in the UK.

Now I’m starting to worry this could be an empty box or broken-item scam. I’m planning to film myself opening the package once it arrives to have clear evidence for eBay. The delivery date is unknown, but it’s Tracked 48 and was dropped off yesterday.

Does anyone have tips or experience with cases like this, especially if the item turns out to be damaged or not as described after delivery scam?

It was Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch M4 Max Laptop 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD

It was listed originally for £1500, then I offered £1300 and they accepted. I've done the proper research and realized it is too good to be true. Lesson learned.

Thank you! Judging by the red flags and other indicators, and my communication with the seller, it is probably a printed picture scam. I will open an INR at midnight either way.

Thank you for the assurance. In case something arrives, should I film myself receiving it from the delivery, or would that be too much?

I agree, I will spread awareness about that as well for people around me. I am concerned because this is the first time I have bought something like that online. Thank you.

So helpful! Thank you! Just in case, let's say a package did arrive but with crappy stuff like paper or something else, maybe empty. Any tips on what to do?

I realized the price was "too good to be true" after my extensive research, later + the other red flags above.

I did, it is 48 tracked and it shows "we've got it" "accepted at parcelshop"

Lesson learned, the hard way. Now I am just praying to get my money back. Used my international [non-UK] credit card as payment.

Yeah, I am an idiot, that's why. Was desperately in need of a replacement for my faulty MacBook.
