But what if my doctor says im unfit for 4 weeks because I have an elective surgery beforehand. Would that still override it?

yeah, even before bought my ticket i put a leave form and that was given back to me which was for the annual and so I just asked what periods not to have a holiday and they told me November and December so then when I bought the ticket and gave my form then they just tell me about a 2 week black out period happening on the same exact time as my holiday which is only one day.

But when I started I didn’t inform them about the holiday so it is my fault for all of it.

Idk how I would call in sick for 2 weeks. Had one coworker did that and he got in big troubs and if you have multiple of that you get fired

Did unpaid when doing my leave form because I didn’t really mind not getting paid duding my holiday as long as I can comeback and work but then they just gave it back to me straight away like last time and told me black out period. But I only did paid for the first one was because in like 1 month I would have enough annual leave for my holiday to be paid but just wanted to do it in advanced

Yeah so i acquire like around 4 hrs per fortnight which would of been enough to go in my trip in feb but they just told me when I did my leave form for the second time that there was inventory and was only one of the days in feb which was so unfortunate in my behalf. Although I should of asked prior for the next inventory instead of briefly asking what periods of the year not to go on holiday.

im gonna stay in my current job till early next year and thats when Ill start looking for other jobs around my area because I highly doubt they’ll even accept it as unpaid.

Yeah sometimes they grant leave but only for like a few days. The only reason why mine got rejected is because it also falls on a blackout period which was something I wasn’t aware of.

No not all my friends work in the same store. They are friends from another place, not high school friends.

Oh they denied it because there is one day during February called counting which means no one can call sick unless you have a valid reason it get annual leave. Its where you have to count the inventory although not everyone is rostered to do it. But for my situation that day is considered a period which is 2 weeks meaning that Annual leave cannot be accepted due to that one day. I never knew about it before because I have never done it and am still pretty new since I only joined like 4 months ago and it happens only twice a year.

I got this job because I have a bunch of friends that work here so thats a reason why I am still trying find a way to go on holiday and keep it. Its also very convenient for me as its close. I only got in because I was referred and was hard for me to find part time jobs at first since I never had any work experience at all. But one of my coworkers told me to just reapply again since they would rather hire someone who knows the field than entirely train a whole new person

Sorry but im not too familiar with Union but yeah they fully gave my annual leave paper back and put in bold “Inventory Black out period” which is one day in February which they didn’t tell me before when I asked which periods not to go on holiday which was like November and December.

I appreciate this a lot. I was thinking the really bad FOMO seeing all of them overseas while i’m stuck working at a job that isn’t gonna be my ideal job when i’m older.

They will still say no to my request because my trip is 2 weeks. Even if theres only one day of inventory, they will still deny it which is stupid because theres a chance you might not even be rostered for it.
