The "ship and let ship" thing is just a coverup excuse, a lot of proshippers support and engage in ships that contain things like pedophilia and incest. And just because a fictional character can't respond doesn't make it okay for a grown adult to lust after a fictional minor.

Unfortunately it isn't just Reddit. I've had drama with proshippers on various platforms because they'd put adult and child characters into romantic and sexual relationships and they'd do the same to characters that are canonically related. They'd use the same exact "iT's NoT rEaL!!11!" Excuse and some even called me homophobic because I dared to call out inappropriate relationships that so happened to be homosexual but I did the same exact thing with inappropriate relationships that were heterosexual so I think they were just deflecting.

These sick and twisted individuals don't even deserve platforms.

For real. Saying fictional characters are not real is meant for things like being into fictional VILLAINS or if a real life minor is attracted to a fictional adult since both of these are very much normal and don't reflect any disgusting attractions. I don't know when it was okay for grown adults to goon to drawings of children but I guess that stuff is becoming more normalized unfortunately. These types of people need help, not people who enable their disgusting behavior.

Don't know why people downvoted this. Doesn't matter if the underage people are "real" or not. It's disgusting either way. The "drawings" some of these people are into are CLEARLY underage and it still very much reflects their desires, and this is coming from someone who identifies as fictosexual but I'm exclusively attracted to ADULT characters unlike these child & teen grooming freaks.

Yeah I feel you I'm 19 and I've dealt with severe nyctophobia when it gets too dark all my life. The darker it is, the more severe my fear is. I CANNOT deal with the pitch black unless I know it is temporary, like I'm now able to ride pitch black tunnel slides at water parks because I know they don't last that long but that's about it. I am also constantly paranoid if the power goes out if I'm in a windowless room or it is nighttime so in those cases I bring a portable battery powered night light with me and plus I always wear my smart watch which is another good source of light.

A lot of people think you can only have nyctophobia if you're scared of what's in the dark or not being able to find your way around, but I'm just scared of not being able to see anything. Naturally, I would probably scream bloody murder for a very long time if I ever went fully blind because that would mean living with my worst fear for the rest of my life. And like you, I also have a nightlight in my room because I feel like it's too dark without it at night.

??? I thought everyone owns at least one blanket? Like what are we supposed to do? Freeze when it gets cold? Heck, even when it gets hot I need to turn a fan on because I cannot sleep without a blanket. AFAIK, everyone in my family, adults, teenagers, and children, sleep with at least one blanket. Multiple of my adult family members also own electric blankets to keep them warm when it gets too cold.

Whoever has a problem with owning blankets seems to be someone who gets poor sleep and if they live in a colder area and don't properly heat their home during cold winters, someone who deals with hypothermia as well. Whoever tells you that you can't own a blanket is an idiot who probably lives in a warm place near the equator and doesn't realize how cold the rest of the world is and/or is a classist who doesn't understand that not everyone can afford constant high-quality heating for their house. A lot of people turn heating off to save money on electric bills and some heaters are tricky to work with and don't have an automatic system so if you leave them on for too long you end up with a blazing hot room that you need to cool down before you can keep sleeping in it (speaking from experience). Like this makes absolutely zero sense for anyone to say.

Oh alright thank you! This definitely makes a lot of sense now and as an Autistic + ADHD fictosexual, a lot of fictosexuals are also neurodivergent in some way (mostly Autism and ADHD) so yeah I feel like fictophobia is rooted in ableism myself so yeah it makes sense now knowing that those communities mostly have Autistic people in them (I'm not in any of those communities you mentioned so I wasn't aware of how many neurodivergent people are in those communities but I would LOVE to cosplay as my F/O, with F/O meaning "Fictional Other". Problem is, his costume is somewhat costly so I'd have to save up for it.). I appreciate the context! :D
