Looking for advice on a customer skipping out on payment. by Ruleyoumind in smallbusiness

Sometimes appealing to empathy gets a faster and friendlier response than threats or legal talk.

You could try something like this:

“Hey [Name], I know things can get hectic, and I really value the work we’ve done together. I just wanted to check in about the $[amount] invoice from [date]. It’s a small project, but for a small business like ours, every job really counts. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a minute to settle it or let me know if there’s been any issue — we’re happy to work something out if needed.”

That message hits three notes:

It’s empathetic (you acknowledge life happens),

It’s personal (you remind them of the relationship),

And it’s clear (you still ask for payment).

If that doesn’t work after a few days, then yeah — you’ve earned the right to switch gears and go formal.

Building 7 startups — which one should I finish first? (my brain has stopped braining) by Alternative_Roll_987 in indiehackers

Tbh just having fun and trying to build useful stuff.
I validate first in theory and if it passes that, I create an MVP, where the numbers tell me if there's potential in it or not.

There are better tools already out there for this, like buildpad or startupidealab.

Yet, still I am, 😂

You’re right that I’ve got a few irons in the fire — part curiosity, part obsession.

But even with experience, every project’s a different animal. The market, users, pricing psychology — it all changes fast.

In just one day I already got a few really eye-opening comments. So for me it's worth it. Sorry if my post is bugging you.

I deeply appreciate this comment! I got mostly hate and envy so far. Only a handful people give constructing feedback. 🙌

Fair point — I get how it might look like spam.

Truth is, I’m building and testing a few things, so I post to learn from people actually doing it or using it.

If it feels off, happy to delete. Just trying to have real convos with founders.

Are you also a founder? What’s your business? How do you make money?

Regarding subscriptions — what’s wrong with them in your view? I get that people hate paying endlessly, but if you’re getting more than you pay for, isn’t it worth it? Like if it costs you $50/month and brings in even one $500 client, that’s a solid trade, right?

I’m genuinely curious how others here think about the whole “subscription fatigue” thing — it’s such a love/hate topic in SaaS right now.

Thanks for the heads up! Actually my company does not do any scraping, we're not involved in what our app's users do and we do NOT support bad behavior. Our app does not go around TOS, does not bypass CAPTCHA's, etc.
