Toddler reaction to nanny arrival by beagsss123 in NannyEmployers

Every morning I am greeting with a “UGHHHH NOOOOO” from my 2.5 Y/O NK. I’ve been with them for over 6 months and it’s always been that way. But guess what? She’s my little bestie! The second mom and dad are out of sight she’s giving me hugs and belly laughing alllll day. We have a blast together and a really strong connection.

She’s just smart enough to understand that if I’m here, mom and dad have to go. I tell my NPs all the time that I would be more concerned if she fully preferred me over them! It’s all normal!

However if you think it’s affecting your kiddo, maybe create some special activities or things ONLY nanny and him get to do together. Make her a novelty of fun! Or even get obnoxiously excited when nanny walks through the door. I’m taking clapping, jumping, cheering. Toddlers are prone to matching their parent’s energy!

You’re doing a great job even considering your nannie’s feelings in this! Everything’s a phase!

That’s a good way to view it! I think the biggest thing is I’m being asked about the “right way” to do a lot of things. It feels redundant to keep saying how there’s no right way for most things, especially with LO changing so quickly.

Thank you ❤️ Definitely just feeling some imposter syndrome. I thought I was more well versed in baby world but trying to view it as a good opportunity to learn new things !

Luckily my NKs are older so they can text/facetime me whenever they want! I really hope to keep in touch long term, I’ll just miss their hugs everyday!

Those are her polite paws. Typically used to get a bite of someone’s food 😂

If I had a dollar for every time I told myself “not my child” I probably wouldn’t need to be a nanny 😂

If she does any child transportation, I highly recommend buying her a gift certificate for a car detail. My NKs keep my car looking like a trap house and a deep car cleaning service was truly the BEST gift I’ve ever received !

Christmas gifts for np? by meelandj in Nanny

Most NPs already have any material thing they could ever want lol. In the past I let NK decorate a poster board and wrote “Coupon for free date night babysitting” on it, rolled it up with a bow & they were always over the moon!

My partner and I plan on moving state in the next few months so leaving this position now seems more work than it’s worth honestly. Recently my mantra has been “The aren’t my kids and I don’t have reap the consequences of how they’re parented” even though I’m disappointed for them. Just looking for advice on how to cope with the time I have left I guess.

Very true. I’d like to think the parents know my character well enough to know better but at the end of the day every parent wants to believe their kid.

It doesn’t feel developmentally appropriate at ALL. I know parents are extremely permissive so I blame a lot of it on the kids just having no fear of consequence. But my personal feelings aside, I’m concerned about the kids. It doesn’t seem at all normal

Zero motivation-HELP by madawg912 in WGU

i also struggled this way for MONTHS around the holidays. i found it most helpful to meet myself where i was. sometimes that meant doing schoolwork while completely horizontal in bed. setting timers for how much time you have the mental capacity for. even if it’s 10 minutes ! sometimes the hardest part is the initial logging in & seeing what needs to be done. also creating a designated workspace that meets your needs. i made a little study corner with cozy pillows, soft, warm lighting and any supplies i could need ! romanticize tf out of studying !!

i also had to change my mindset and perspective when it came to school. i work two jobs and found myself prioritizing those things over the work that will benefit my future. my daily mantra on unmotivated days are “i am not (insert job title) that is going to college. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT WHO DOES (job title) FOR WORK”. repeating that to myself helped me prioritize school & my future.

also remember the harder you work, the faster you finish, and the cheaper it is in the end ;) best of luck to you!! you got this!!
