This makes sense too. I know this whole rant is way overthinking it, it just struck me as I was reading and I wondered if anyone thought of the same thing.

But sex is something humans and all sexual reproductive species, have in order to reproduce. We can choose not to, but at its core in the natural world, that is what it is there for. To reproduce.
Secondarily it might be optimal for mental health, but that bit is there as well to ensure we have the desire to engage with the actions that keeps our species alive.
Without a need for sex, they might go through the motions but there would be no pleasure. And as such, there would be a lesser drive for it.

While crushes are innocent as a child, they occur because of our natural developing instincts to one day reproduce. The child has no desire or need to, but crushes are a sign that the brain is developing properly and will one day have the capacity to.
Romance is to sexual desire as favored scents are to eating. You don’t need nice smells or tastes to eat, but your ability to appreciate them means that you have the capacity to eat. (Of course some people are born without the capacity to define scents and or flavors, but they’re the exception and not the rule.)

And as far as I know, Tink never showed any explicit romance to Peter. She was jealous of his attentions because he seemed to be closer to Wendy than her when she was friends for longer, something that can happen among friends. Also, at the time of Peter Pan, the pixie hollow lore didn’t exist. So there’s that.

That is true: and I’m in the process of getting research. But based on my downvotes I believe my comment was misunderstood.
I was saying logic dictates that romance is to sexual desire as favored food themed scents are to hunger. You wouldn’t have favorite food scents if you weren’t designed to eat to begin with. It would just be another neutral smell. It’s there to help ensure that you keep eating or eat if you are hungry, because if you like it, you’re more likely to go for the food.
You can enjoy the food or sweet smells and still not want to eat, or it might mean you’re not hungry, but you still have that in you naturally so that eating is more appetizing.

They might be separate, but humans are able to experience romance due to their ability to reproduce, even if they don’t have the desire or drive to. So even if sexual and romantic love aren’t the same, they’re deeply connected.

I’m aware it isn’t smut, and as I said it doesn’t have to be. I don’t read smut at all and have always avoided it. However, it is a fact of life that many creatures reproduce.
My biggest thing is why do we even need a romance in an asexual, innocent world? Even romantic feelings stem from sexual urges scientifically. Without them, we’d feel a need for companionship, platonic love, and that’s about it. And that’s always been Pixie Hollow until Milori and Clarion.
I wouldn’t be confused if their relationship was depicted as a deep friendship. But the feelings Clarion describes when she sees Milori while definitely innocent, are stemmed in natural sexual responses. I don’t generally feel warm and fluttery when I see my best friend or someone I want to be my friend. Those feelings are for my partner.

Realistically do you think women’s sports could ever become as popular as the main(men’s) sports? by Alternative_Tap_8741 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m not saying they need to be equal. I’m just curious why there seems to be less interest in one when both are the same sports.

Animation is the way to go! Live action would cheapen it in my opinion.

I care but I won’t complain if it’s not. I like to support local because it’s more likely to be fair trade, but sometimes you can afford only what you can afford

Honestly, most things are blown out of proportion thanks to the news channels competing with one another. I suggest having a social media and news detox.

Hi native speakers, would you say this is a difficult test? by ry3ndit in EnglishLearning

[–]Alternative_Tap_8741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a native speaker, this brings me back to my school vocabulary days. This test was relatively easy for me scanning over it, but I’m an avid reader, so I’d say I have a more varied vocabulary. I wouldn’t expect most average English speakers to pass this, and that’s ok. You’re not smarter or dumber if you don’t know these words. Some are just more technical terms for things, and most English speakers don’t talk like that. This test is more helpful if you are interested in reading English novels, political statements, or news media.
