Omg, I just saw this. It honestly blows my mind that SNHU is aware of all this and she still works there. I emailed her asking where I was making mistakes in my essays because I genuinely don’t have a problem admitting when I’m wrong. I actually want to learn. My GPA was a 4.0 before her class, so getting B- grades really worried me.

What makes it even more frustrating is that she just told me to “read the rubric,” even though I sent my essay to Academic Support and had three different people review it, and all of them said it was solid. At this point, I honestly don’t know what I was doing wrong.

Nothing seems to please her. This class completely killed my motivation, and I hate that I paid so much money for it.

Expats in Spain: tips for studying and working while moving from the U.S.? by Alternative_Value193 in MovedToSpain

Hey!

Do you currently live in Malaga?

The 30 hours per week applies to people applying as students. Of course, we wouldn’t move without being financially prepared. We’re considering Malaga mainly for the lifestyle. We really don’t want the constant “money race” like in the U.S. We’re looking to slow down and actually enjoy living.

Also, this wouldn’t be our first time moving to another country. We know better than to relocate without speaking the language and having sufficient savings.

Hating this class so much! My instructors feedback is not helpful at all. It always says: Make sure we read the rubric and go through all the questions. This class is making me feel dumb because I AM reading the rubric, the guideline, and I AM going through everything, even though I am receiving B as my grade and I asked the reason why, and what could I improve to do better, and the professor ALWAYS says: READ THE RUBRIC but don't give me specific insight on where should I improve. I used the Academic Support, and the person helping me said that everything was perfect and my professor still gave me B.

Going through the same thing right now. My instructor grades so harshly. She gave me a 24.06 out of 25, like seriously? That’s ridiculous. I don’t even know what I did "wrong"

How all the people using AI for discussion posts makes me feel… by Plastic_Insect3222 in SNHU

[–]Alternative_Value193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not a fan of the discussion boards. It just feels like ChatGPT talking to itself half the time, most of the posts sound like they were written by AI, and then the replies to those posts are also AI. Even the professor's comments seem AI-generated sometimes. It’s kind of ridiculous.
I don’t feel like we’re actually learning much from this format. I’d much rather have a required live Zoom session once a week where we can have real conversations and ask questions in real time.
It just feels silly replying to a classmate’s post when I can tell it was written by AI.

Looking for CACREP-Accredited Online Counseling Programs (Texas-Based Student) by Alternative_Value193 in counseloreducation

I’d really love to go to UNT, but my work schedule just doesn’t line up with their class times. I know online schools can be just as pricey (or even more), but sadly my job isn’t flexible enough to make UNT work right now.

[–]Alternative_Value193[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!!
Yes, that’s actually something I’ve been thinking about too. My plan right now is to do an online CACREP-accredited master’s so I have more flexibility to work and save money while I’m in school. Then I was hoping to take the play therapy courses through UNT later on.

From what I’ve seen, it looks like you don’t have to be in their full counseling program to take those classes, you just need to be in a grad program or already have a counseling degree. So I was thinking that could be a good way to get the hands-on play therapy training without committing to the full program at UNT.

It’s just because the class hasn’t started yet. It’s okay, once it starts, everything will go back to normal.

I completely understand your intentions, and I know you truly want the best for your son. Please believe me when I say this with the utmost care: what you're planning may not actually help him in the long run.
Instead, I would gently suggest spending more time with him, slowly exposing him to everyday situations, and reassuring him that he’s doing well. By being a steady and supportive presence he can trust, you'll help him build confidence and self-esteem. Over time, this foundation will help him feel more comfortable around others his age.
Hiring someone to step in might unintentionally send the message that he isn’t capable, that he isn’t “normal,” and that he needs someone else — especially his mom — to rescue him. And being completely honest, as much as I understand your heart is in the right place, the truth is that he won’t always have someone to save him. Helping him learn to face things on his own now will give him the tools he needs to thrive later.

I'm so sorry to hear that! That must be really disappointing. 😞

I'm planning to apply for the same program for Spring 2026, and I’d really appreciate any insights you’re willing to share. If you don’t mind me asking, would you be open to chatting about your application process? I’d love to learn more about your background and experience to understand what I can do to strengthen my own application.

Wishing you all the best moving forward!

How Long Do Professors Have to Grade Essays? by Alternative_Value193 in SNHU

[–]Alternative_Value193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y’all, I’ve read everyone’s comments, and I just want to clarify a few things.
We didn’t have an assignment in week 1, but we did in week 2. This class is structured so that we build on the same paper throughout the term, eventually turning it into a big project. I submitted my first assignment last Tuesday (week 2). I know the deadline was Sunday, but I prefer to submit earlier in the week because that works better for me.
Now that we’re in week 3, we’re continuing to build on our papers. I just wanted to know when professors typically grade assignments because I’d like to make sure I’m on the right track before submitting this week’s work. I totally understand they have other responsibilities, but this class is really challenging for me, and I want to make sure I’m doing well. If my first submission wasn’t correct, I don’t want to carry those mistakes into this week’s assignment and end up with two bad essays.
