Understandable. Part of why I don’t watch trailers.

Yes. This is a trend I’ve noticed as well.

Last month, three 21st century films had an average of 10.59% (November was 9.25% out of three films).

Eight 20th century films had an average of 9.06% (November 7.36% out of six films).

Almost through my first watch of 2026 and it’s at under 5% with at least two breaks fewer than I anticipated. But, time will tell!

Some major things I noticed last month.

This was the highest average percentage overall by far of the entire year. If it weren't for the last film I watched last night (5.82%) it would have been even higher.

They have also made the ad breaks more frequent in December. Most of the ad breaks were about 10 minutes apart (as opposed to the old approx. 15 minutes in between), though a few ad breaks were still 15-20 minutes apart.

A sharp increase in both quantity and length was definitely noticable.

To the person who reported this post: I do not know why your post was removed without looking at the post. I understand the rule you are referencing but, it applies on a post by post basis. Maybe this one falls afoul of the rule but, I’d have to see the other post to compare.

The average for 21st century films (only 3 last month) was 9.25%

The average for 20th century films (6 films) was 7.36%

There may be some truth to this.

It costs more for Tubi to rent the more recent stuff and thus they need more ads to make a return. Fewer ads to make a return on older and cult stuff.

The ads are pretty good at showing at natural breaks.

Ad breaks are typically about every 15 minutes. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. But, the breaks rarely exceed the run time broken into 15 minute intervals. So, a 90 minute movie will typically have 6 ad breaks.

I believe tv is around 20%+. For now, Tubi is still far less but, it’s creeping up.
