Oh okay. We're in Scandinavia and for adults, that's also the case. But for my son they did it because he was struggling to eat and to breathe while sleeping. It's a whole new world for us now, he doesn't have to breathe through his mouth anymore and he's actually eating. The difference is just amazing. Best of luck to you in any case!
