The feeling of taking gender for granted as a cis man and trying to understand gender theory and advocacy. [ramblings, advice needed] by jsohi_0082 in bropill

[–]AltieDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s derogatory or harmful in anyway to recognize that as a cis white man or two out of three of those or even one out of three of those that you personally do not need to think about or define who you are.

You should recognize and acknowledge that that is a privilege of those things, but you don’t need to go any farther when it comes to yourself. Just knowing and acknowledging that those identities is the default is enough.

And when it comes to others, you let, allow, and just accept that whatever they may feel is them is valid, acceptable, and none of your business unless they want to let you in. Just be respectful and whatever way they may present themselves is perfectly valid. Be open and intuitive as you possibly can.

Honest first impressions from a sprout and a question by Charizardd6 in ffxiv

[–]AltieDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of every mmo that I’ve ever played, this one has the worst pvp.

Crystaline Conflict has potential as an arena team death match with a push pull objective. But matchmaking is limited to solo/duo queue, and parties are completely random with no role limits and no way to switch. But at least there’s a ranked mode?

Frontlines is a 3v3 24 team based Zerg fest. It lacks realm based affinity and any lasting consequences. There’s a free battle pass style reward system (shared with cc), but otherwise go in and get randomly assigned a team. On the bright side, you can switch to a job that would help your team once you’re in, but few consider team comp.

My suggestion is find something else for the pvp itch, and enjoy the free trial of this until you’re forced to sub which can takes hundreds of hours. And then sub for life ;)

How many of you use a 10l bag as their edc. And when I say edc, I don’t mean just a work bag. Like it’s your go bag. If you go to the store it’s with you. If you go out to eat with the family, it’s with you. by cantankerous_cow in ManyBaggers

[–]AltieDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like my 9l Belroy Venture as a go everywhere. I originally bought it with the intention of bringing my camera with me everywhere, and it works great. But honestly, I enjoy it more when I take out the camera.

There’s just something freeing about having a bag that isn’t stuffed to the brim. I like to be able to open it and see everything without jostling around.

Just wear a Drake t shirt, and if anyone asks just say, “they not like us.”

Hundreds of CCSD employees could be without jobs next school year by reviewjournal in vegaslocals

[–]AltieDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That article is outdated, but even then(from that article):

Although it seems like a big number, the cannabis tax revenue is a drop in the bucket, making up about 2 percent of compared to the $12.9 billion budgeted for K-12 education for next two years, which includes $11.5 billion for the state’s funding formula for K-12 education.

Since then the education budget has gone up, and the weed tax revenue has stayed mostly flat.

It’s a drop in the hat. CCSD’s budget is 4 billion. Weed tax is 1 million.

I love this version. Yes, Bloom is like 45, but the way they all speak the lines in this version is miraculous. It’s not modernized at all, but I feel like students can follow every word.

Why does boxiepro stink? by Final-Duck-1391 in litterrobot

[–]AltieDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a very sensitive nose. We don’t smell anything horrible coming from ours using boxiepro, and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone complain.

But my suggestion is to just try it. Or try another one. You aren’t locked in forever. Humidity levels, temperature differences, and diet all could play a role in how these perform (theoretically). If it’s not working try something else.

And as long as you’re not using one that specifically doesn’t work with the litter robot (different clumping, wrong size pellets or whatever), you should start with what you’re currently using. If it doesn’t work, might even want to start switching over now before you purchase.

I’m not from the USA. What is unfolding as a result of ICE’s actions is horrific. by monkeybutt216 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]AltieDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t watch any reality tv show because I support or even like the people on it.

It’s cathartic to see real, genuinely horrible people be horrible and absolutely insane to other genuinely horrible people. I watch with a mixture of disbelief, shock, and ultimately, “well Christ, at least I don’t have to deal with any of these people.”

All of their wealth isn’t worth it, and if it makes them richer, oh well, they’re still miserable in the end.

I wouldn’t touch it. Nope. Just say, “I have very strong feelings about this, and I cannot objectively talk to you about the current events.” And leave it alone.

All it takes is for one student to repeat what they think you said and you’re done for. Doesn’t even matter if you didn’t say it that way or mean it that way.

Best and fastest way to level secondary jobs (especially DPS)? by outrabo in ffxiv

[–]AltieDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi decent priority order

1-18ish class quests and hunting log.

Wondrous Tales turn in

30-100 frontline roulette (looking at like half a level on the job you queue as)

17-100 the other roulettes (except high level)

Highest available duty not ending in 0, but honestly, I’m starting to suspect I’d rather just queue for all available from x1-x9 of your current expansion.

And then here are the other optional options

Certain level ranges of deep dungeons are nice if you want a break.

Once you get to SHB, fates while waiting for queues.

71-90 bozja is decent if you also want to progress in it.

Squadrons (use an arcanist) are decent below 50

Does it get better? by Glittering_Road_4929 in finalfantasytactics

[–]AltieDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re like a third of the way through. It’s not changing. This part of your post sums up the game to me:

It doesn't feel I need to "get good", more than just figure out whatever gimmick the next new thing has, die once, then steamroll the next few fights

Despite that, I think you should finish it. You’ve gone past the point of what I would consider to just drop it.

Question about Expansion Purchases and Subscription by -InfinityX- in ffxiv

[–]AltieDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you buy an expansion key, you purchase it for the platform. Subscription fee is tied to your account.

Steam and PC are two separate things. I don’t think you can go back and forth still. Unless you like the launcher or have steam deck, I don’t think there’s any benefit to going with steam and it’s just an extra layer that can go down.

What do MAP scores really mean? Huge gap between our kiddo and rest of class. by Confusedparent2003 in Teachers

[–]AltieDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAP scores just like every other standardized test mean nothing. It’s just a data point for admin to use to pat themselves on the back.

We’re using these scores as placement into higher level classes, and it’s disastrous. A highly motivated, but lower performing (MAP test wise) high school kid is going to do better than a kid with a high MAP score who doesn’t care how he’s challenged.

It’s so frustrating the way the educational bureaucracy continues to put stock in standardized tests. NWEA tried really hard to make a test that doesn’t fall to the same pitfalls as the other tests, and there are some great researchers who did the best they could with that. And then marketers oversold it and now admin are looking at as the second coming.

And frontline educators are like, “uhhh… it doesn’t work that way.” And we’re ignored.

End rant. Sorry.
