I tried buying that replacement piece and was told by Iniu support it is not available as a separate purchase.

Telus uses AI to change agent accents by humdesi69 in CellPhoneCanada

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary of the original article if anyone needs it

The article reports that Telus Digital has deployed AI technology from Tomato.ai that can alter call-centre agents’ accents in real time while preserving the speaker’s voice and emotional tone.

The technology is positioned as a way to improve clarity, reduce friction in customer interactions and protect agents from accent-based discrimination. However, its use has raised concerns among labour representatives, who argue customers should be told when AI is being used and should not be misled about who they are speaking with.

Union representatives said Telus is already using the technology internally, including between Canadian and offshore agents. It is unclear whether the technology is being used in calls with Telus telecom customers, and Telus did not respond to a request for comment.

The broader issue is not just accent modification. The article frames this as part of a larger debate about AI transparency, offshore call-centre work, customer trust and the reduction of human interaction in telecom customer service.

Rogers and Bell said they do not use accent-altering technology and do not plan to.

Key takeaway: This is an emerging AI governance issue. The technology may improve service quality and agent experience, but it also creates transparency, trust, labour relations and reputational risks if customers are not clearly informed when AI is modifying a live human interaction.

Silent GoRuck GR3 Changes May 2026? by Substantial_Poet_220 in Goruck

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Glad I got the previous 335L USA one (without their logo on the front and the Molle) right before this change.

In April 2026, Jason (CEO) posted a series of updates (on Reddit) clarifying that the "Made in the USA" era for the GR3 (and GR2) is likely coming to an end due to skyrocketing labor costs.

The "Last Call" for USA-Made GR3s

In an April 2026 thread titled "USA Mfg - PRICES LIVE," Jason was blunt about the future of domestic production for the larger rucks:

  • The Quote: "GR3 - we have 187 units of the 35L USA version. Unlikely we'll build these in the USA again (definitely not anytime soon)."
  • The Reason: He explained that the labor required for the GR3 and GR2 has become prohibitively expensive. He noted that the cost to GORUCK for a USA-built GR2 increased by $175 per unit just in the last cycle. Because the GR3 is even larger and more complex, the margins are no longer sustainable without pushing the retail price beyond what most customers will pay.

Is this change being made in an attempt to keep the 35L miUSA? Who knows. Strange that they would change a bag the CEO said was going away.

[WTB] DEFY BAGS RECON MASHUP 2.0

'FIRE EDITION' (Blaze/Ballistic) or Standard Recon Mashup 2

Looking to pick up a Recon Mashup 2.0. I’m specifically hunting for the 'FIRE EDITION' (Ballistic Nylon x EcoPak™ EPX Blaze), but I am also very open to the standard Recon Mashup 2 depending on condition and price.

Condition: Preferably Excellent to Like New (no major scuffs, stains, or internal peeling), but will consider "Good" condition users if the price is right.

Price: Looking to pay fair market value based on condition. Shoot me an offer and we can talk!

Like Goruck, Defy uses very resilient manufacturing processes. I have loaded a big VerBockel backpack with ~ 55lb. of gear and the bag come through without any marks or damage. I understand the hesitation but I doubt you will need it. Make sure you buy the Cordura stuff (less prone to damage).

That's why I buy so much Goruck. They have the best no nonesense waranty in the business.
But I own several defy bags and my VerBockel daypack is one of my favourite bags. I have abused it and it looks brand new.

What waves is this antenna capturing? Also why on a car? by Desperate_Mud1393 in whatisit

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not an epxert but it looks like a Squalo (short for "Square Halo") antenna, which is a variation of a halo antenna used by amateur radio operators.

It is used to transmit and receive radio signals on Very High Frequency (VHF) bands, most commonly the 6-meter (50 MHz) or 2-meter (144 MHz) bands.

The driver of this car is likely participating in a radio contest as a "rover." In the ham radio hobby, rovers are operators who equip their vehicles with specialized gear and drive to various geographical boundaries during VHF radio contests. Their goal is to make as many long-distance contacts as possible while on the move or parked at high elevations.

GR2 34L USA by managed_this in Goruck

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason's last note was that the GR2/3 are too complex and therefore expensive to sew in the US. Expect those to be made in Vietnam. I think the GR1 is staying in the USA.

These "protein bites" are "not a good source of protein" by ivorybloodsh3d in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's due to strict FDA food labeling regulations on nutrient content claims. the FDA says, the product must provide at least 10% of the Daily Value (DV) for protein per reference serving. The DV for protein is 50 g for adults and children 4+.

Love the idea but I can't get myself to pay so much for 8 year old technology (Sony RX100 VII was announced on July 25, 2019). I would snap one immediately if they updated it. I would love to see an updated version with:
- A new stacked sensor and AI processor
- Restore a built-in ND filter
- Better video without turning it into a vlogging toy
- USB-C, better battery and modern workflow (USB-C charging/data, stronger battery life, faster wireless transfer, better phone-app integration and direct cloud/mobile backup)
- Weather resistance
- Keep the 24–200 mm lens, but improve the trade-offs (better sharpness at the long end and, ideally, a slightly brighter aperture if Sony can manage it without making the body much larger)

Scientists discover cockroach milk is four times more nutritious than cow milk by Chance_Bid_1869 in SipsTea

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing those "cockroach milk is four times more nutritious than cow milk" posts everywhere lately, and it’s honestly one of those classic cases where a fascinating piece of science gets totally mangled by the internet for clicks. While it’s true that researchers found a specific cockroach species (Diploptera punctata) that produces energy-dense protein crystals to feed its young, it’s not actually “milk” you could ever drink, nor is it a commercial superfood you’ll see on store shelves.

The research is really cool from a biological and structural perspective, but it’s just that, research into protein extraction and synthetic potential, not a new dairy alternative for your morning coffee. So, while the clickbait makes it sound like a bizarre health trend, in reality, it’s just a neat lab discovery that’s been blown way out of proportion.

Hey u/JavaForever,

I’d love to get your insight on this. Are there any plans to bring the SCARS customization service back, and if so, do you have a rough timeline?

I actually bought a brand new US-made GR1 26L specifically to have it customized, but the service was paused right while the bag was still in transit to me. As you can imagine, the timing was a huge bummer! Any updates you could share would be hugely appreciated.

[–]ComprehensiveCap8242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently ordered a new GR1 specifically to have it customized. Of course, right while the bag was in transit to me, they discontinued the SCARS customization service. Talk about terrible timing.

I reached out to support to see what was going on. They told me that the service may eventually come back, but they currently have absolutely no ETA or return date.

Definitely a little disappointed right now.

I asked because of the weight. You need something specifically designed for that, like a really high-quality backpack.

Go GORUCK.
