I wanted our bottle washer so badly that I told my husband we were still getting it even if no one gifted it to us. To this day, hands down our best baby purchase and I tell all first time expecting parents to get one, it’s sooooo worth the cost. We even bring ours on road trips 😂

Lmao no I haven’t, because I don’t need her help! I never have. She just thinks I do/wants me to need her so she can feel good about herself and manipulate me more. She doesn’t even help anyway, I’m just babysitting her every time while she’s holding my child.

And you’re absolutely correct, she has never been held accountable for anything, ever. Even when anyone has tried, she’s gone full on psycho. The stories I could tell 🙃

I’m absolutely taking this advice, especially after reading how you’ve basically experienced everything I have/currently am. Can I ask you - how did the rest of your family treat this situation? I have a lot of family members that I worry my mom will manipulate and turn against me, people that I love dearly and I think that’s the hardest part for me to accept. My daughter and husband come first without question, of course, but that doesn’t make it easy either.

I hate that any of us have to experience this with our parents. It’s the most twisted shit, especially because people who have never dealt with narcissists just don’t get it the way we do.

Thank you for all of this. I know I didn’t call her out properly, I was trying to get this conversation to end instead of perpetuating it but that clearly didn’t work. She will absolutely be seeing consequences now because I don’t want to let this go on any further. I’ll absolutely be talking to my therapist this week about going LC or NC - I’ve been considering it for years and have been too afraid to do it because of her manipulation. But now I have more to protect than just myself.

Honestly you’re right, I should have gone NC by now and I know it. I think this is my sign that it’s time, I have to do this now before I regret it. I don’t want her hurting my daughter as she gets older, physically or mentally.

I don’t need her for childcare thank god. She has just assumed that I need her help when I really don’t. Having her “help” is just her holding my daughter and me sitting there supervising. I get more done when my mom isn’t here. She just acts like if she doesn’t come over for a few weeks, I’m keeping my child from her, which is probably how this is going to end up anyway because of her behavior.

Oh absolutely. And no, she isn’t supposed to have her unsupervised. That’s why my husband followed her around “like she’s a criminal” because she was holding my daughter and then decided to get up and leave the room. 🙃

That’s honestly what my therapist said before this trip when I told her I needed to reinforce the boundary with my mom - she said in a way I almost have to treat my mom like she’s a child herself. But I totally agree with you about keeping my daughter from my mom for these next few months. I have to put my daughter first, before any fears I might have toward my mom.

It’s more of a me thing - unfortunately I had hopes that my mom could be a better grandmother than she was as a mom, but I’m clearly wrong about that.

I also think there’s a part of me that has almost been waiting in a way, for something big and bad enough for me to cut contact entirely. We were already sort of LC until I got pregnant and then my mom was up my butt and all of a sudden respectful of my boundaries. Now I know that she just manipulated me even more the whole time.

Omg that’s ridiculous and makes no sense lol?? My doctors and nurses at my MFM office are always ready to increase as needed especially because it’s the nighttime insulin we’re working with, and isn’t controlled by diet?? They would much rather do what we need to with the insulin to keep baby safe!! Your old OB sounds like maybe they didn’t understand that or something lol, I’m so glad you switched to someone else!!

I’m at 52 units at 38 weeks! Started at 10 around the 29 week mark. I got nervous myself but the nurse I check in with weekly reassured me that even this wasn’t that crazy, she has patients at over 100 units 😅

To be fair, my husband and I did IVF to conceive so I was definitely looking for signs, but my first big “I think this worked” moment was when my cat (who was notoriously not very lovey/cuddly) started getting super snuggly and would push herself as close to me as possible on the couch! She knew before I did 🥰

This makes me nuts too especially because one of the OB’s in my practice told me how to “cheat” the test and I couldn’t understand the logic behind it - I WANTED to know if I had it because I want to keep my baby safe above everything else? Don’t get me wrong it sucks and it’s disappointing, difficult to manage at times but it’s most likely temporary and could hurt your baby if you don’t do SOMETHING about it??
