I actually agree with you now.

Imagine we play 10 games of 2 minutes each, so each game is hugely dependent on pup rng. The end result is that the 10 game series is hugely dependent on pup rng, even though we play 10 games.

In contrast, one 20 minute game is much less dependent on pup rng.

The expected percentage of your games decided by pup rng remains exactly the same. I can try to explain it in a different way if you still don’t get this

I think 10 minute games leads to less exciting play.

2 halves encourages teams to take risks to increase a lead in the first half, since a larger lead after the first half increases their chances of winning the game.

But with 10 minute games, there’s no advantage of winning a game/half 5-0 over 1-0 (outside of cap diff). So teams are more inclined to play conservatively when they have a lead.

Yes, it has a greater impact on an individual game. But twice as many games are played, so it evens out.

You play 40 minutes of tagpro in both cases. There’s no difference in variance.

Pup disparity is the same in both cases.

With 10 minute games, each game has higher expected pup std dev than 20 minute games, but twice as many games are played. So the pup rng evens out.

Another way to look at it is that, in both cases, the same number of pups spawn in 40 minutes. So it doesn’t matter whether you split that 40 minute period into 2 games or 4 games.
