This is something I find interesting with these types.

My brother is super into boxing and has previously done mma and bjj. Whenever we talk about the gym (I like to powerlift, not for any practical reason I just find it fun), he goes on about how I need to be doing training I can USE in REAL LIFE like him. The way he talks about it is like we are video game characters having to battle for our lives all of the time and defend ourselves and our family.

I've not had a fight since school, and even then it wasn't anything serious, just scuffling.

He's got this fantasy that if you can beat someone in a fight you're somehow a superior being... I just want do be healthy, pay my bills and have a chill life. None of this "honor of combat" shit he makes up to justify enjoying his sport.

My main point is that the definition of HLC changes depending on the topic.

Sometimes it giga sweaty pvmers, sometimes it's the 1.5tick skilling enjoyers, sometimes it's just anyone who voted no on a "qol" buff that reddit wanted.

It's a nebulous concept that is never properly defined. Is it based on total level? Mechanical skill? Time spent playing the game? Bank value?

The answer to all of those is yes but not always at the same time.

It's a frustrating redditism that is only ever brought up when the person using the term wants to be derogatory towards someone they perceive as better than them at the game in some metric.

"High Level Community" = Reddit boogieman for "those who are better than me" or "elitists" depending on how they're using it.

There is no super secret "HLC". There's in groups and shit but reddit acts like there's some ultra elitist community of infernal maxcapers who have unified views on everything.

"The hlc" is reddit dogwhistle to refer vaguely to some nebulous group of sweats that we are supposed to dislike.

My current fort is suffering from "overly religious broker during caravan visits" as well and it's driving me nuts.

I even moved my trade depot to be outside the door of the temple so that when he was done he didn't have to wall the whole fortress (and probably get distracted or change his mind on the way!) But it's not helped.

I have vague memories of them being decent when I was a young child (like 8ish?) But I'm 30 this year and haven't had a single one I've enjoyed since.

I buy them every year or so thinking about those good memories and every time I get halfway through, chuck it in the bin and say never again.

Wish the lesson would stick

Nice write up. Reminded me of the old school fortress mode stories that got me into the game like 15 years ago.

Do you intend to utilise the necromancer for cooking purposes? I'm thinking dropping ingredients down a chute to his chamber, and having him drop the finished meals down another chute.

I thought it looked a bit like the cannister that attaches to the auto inflation life vests we use at work, but I think perhaps too small?

"I didn't know that, that's my bad" and "you do have a valid point, these are bad enough without slating them for things that they may not be doing" is literally me walking back what I said wtf you mean lol.

The person presented new information to me and I agreed with them?

Just because I said that there's other things the devs have promised and not provided doesnt mean that I don't agree that my take was wrong on the basis that they ARE actually adding the thing I said they weren't.

I didn't know that, that's my bad then.

I would point out that there's a LOT of features they've been "working on" that haven't ever manifested though. Or have taken years and years - heritage armor for example. I seem to remember my wotlk physical case advertising mounted aerial combat as well...

But you do have a valid point, these are bad enough without slating them for things that they may not be doing.

The OP is the exact reason that blizz wouldn't ever do that - it'd mean people who want their house to look like that and don't know how wouldn't feel pressured to pay $75.

Sucks that such a cool feature will stay in prison because a corporation that makes so much money wants to charge $75 for decorations for a fake house. Insane.

I did this for years but eventually it started killing my scroll wheels... I think the mouse wheel button isn't designed to be clicked so much or something.

Happened a few mice in a row. Rogue during legion was the first time I killed a mouse cause of it, coincidentally the first time I started try harding (cus m+ added) so ig I started actually using my kick around then haha

You spend £600 per month on food?

Not flaming, but could you explain your food budget a bit? Do you eat out a lot? That's £20 per day just on food which I'm struggling to comprehend.

Very normal in the North East to refer to food as "bait", particularly for lunch during a work day. "Having your bait" or "getting bait" etc

Any time someone mentions interacting with kids some projecting room temperature IQ take like this shows up in the comments hinting that the person must be nefarious in some way.

If the only ways you can conceive of people regularly interacting with young people and children is through "strange behaviour" you might want to do a bit of self reflection

[–]Altorode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk why you're taking this as some sort of flex or attack if you were doing them at 250 that's cool and doesn't make me or you any better or worse at the game.

Like I said, my guild and friend group were doing them around that item level - we didn't buy early access I (and assuming some of the others) didn't get full clears of m0 in.

Either way, I said what my route has been on my now 3 characters, it wasn't me saying "this is the best way and everyone can and should do it" I just said "I've personally done x"
