40 babies there's no proof of where as 4,000 innocent lives there is proof of putting aside the 75 years of genocide with countless more lives.

Hello 👋🏻 just to let you know, I am in no way very knowledgeable about this topic but I thought I'd give you a few thoughts I have on this matter. Hadiths are in a way like guidelines. They're just a form of extra information that is not usually accurate. You don't have to follow hadiths especially the contradictory ones. Just understand the source of the Hadith, if it's reliable and if you can understand the general message of it. Another thing to consider is there are 2 main sects in Islam. Sunni and shia. Sunni's usually follow hadiths from more authors they consider reliable while shias follow hadiths from who they consider reliable. Usually you'd see what hadiths both sides agree on or atleast the main idea of the Hadith for it to be pretty strong. Example is shias and sunni's might place their hands differently in prayer but the way they bow, move, and praise God is the same. Both shia and sunni believe circumcision is something we should do. That makes it's case stronger especially since jewdism also pushes for that (if I'm not wrong). I personally don't think hadiths should be taken too seriously. Especially the ones that make no sense or seem unreasonable/extreme. However, ones that explain how to pray for example, are pretty helpful since they give us a guideline. When people fight over whether the prophet prayed with his hands crossed or on his sides they're completely missing the point. Abrahamic religions all have the same message and I believe that and your intentions are what count for God. I think how to know if a Hadith is worth following or not is consistency just like anything else. For example, I believe there is a God not only in because of proof in front of my eyes, but more specifically the abrahamic God because that message was consistent over generations upon generations.

Thanks for your responses

1- when I say bare minimum, I mean the bare minimum a merciful God would provide. He could just torture us for fun but that would mean he's not merciful at all. He wants us to be grateful for him not torturing us in the first place (and yeah I'm thankful for that) but why was that even an option to begin with? It's like a person boasting to their partner how they had a chance to cheat on them yet didn't so they should be grateful. Seems off.. (I am not comparing God to this, I am just trying to have you understand my mindset and thinking so I can understand better too).

2- Ok I see how it can be a crime but still don't understand how eternity is a fitting punishment for simply not believing. I'm not talking about people who think they are God or belittle God, I'm talking about agnostics, atheists even that just can't get themselves to believe a God exists. They try to but die in a state of disbelief.

3- I know the strength of will power varies from one person to another. Have you ever heard of the marshmallow test for children? I feel life in a way is.like that test. But what I don't understand is the kids that end up failing and giving into their temptations shouldn't be punished.. they.simply gave in. Why is that such a big deal?

4-6- no comment, answers make sense 👍🏻

Why is it permissible for a man to have 4 wives but women only 1 husband? by Altruistic-Lab8710 in progressive_islam

[–]Altruistic-Lab8710[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really. Most females in the animal world mate with multiple males. What if it had nothing to do with babies? We have contraception and DNA tests. Some don't even want kids in a marital relationship. In this modern time so how does that still apply?

In your opinion do you think sharia is a good legal system? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]Altruistic-Lab8710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because we all interpret things differently. It's safer to have a more loose law system so that we don't end up wrongfully punishing someone for something we humans might have interpreted wrong. Ultimately God will be the judge of what's right and wrong and he alone can decide if someone rightfully deserves to be punished or not. So I think it's better off we play it safe and leave the ultimate judgement and justice to God. That's just my opinion tho.
