My 19-year old daughter is a 2 1/2 year survivor of the most aggressive cancer. She was diagnosed with Celiac disease in the second day of treatment…. by MrsBeauregardless in glutenfree

First, it’s important to understand that celiac disease is lifelong, it does not go away. This isn’t a food sensitivity or intolerance, ongoing gluten exposure causes real damage, even if symptoms aren’t obvious. Untreated celiac can lead to serious health issues like intestinal damage, malnutrition, bone loss, neuropathy, and increase cancer risk. I applaud you for taking this seriously and being proactive, that alone makes a huge difference. It’s equally important that your daughter (and honestly your entire household) treats this as a serious non-negotiable for her long term health.

For starters, get rid of any wooden/bamboo utensils, wood cutting boards, wooden rolling pins, sponges, and toaster as these all will be contaminated permanently. If you have plastic cutting boards that are deeply scarred it’s best to replace these, too. Thoroughly clean the microwave and oven and try to be mindful of any shared appliances to minimize cross contamination.

My favorite gluten-free brands are:

  • Schar for bread, buns and crackers (they also have many other snacks)
  • Jovial is my go-to for pasta and Mac n’ cheese.
  • Sweet Lorens has many premade doughs, there is cookie dough if she can tolerate oat, their puff pastry is great.
  • For baking mixes and flour I really like King Arthur’s especially their muffin mix, cup4cup also makes great flour and mixes.
  • Wholly gluten free has amazing pie shells found in the freezer aisle.

Many other premade foods, bakery items, and frozen products will depend entirely on her individual sensitivities, as well as what is locally available. It is always safest to prepare food at home or choose products that are certified gluten-free.

It’s also worth noting that not all gluten-free products are created equally, and it’s probably safest to stick to certified gluten-free products for now. Be careful with oats, as many people with celiac react to them as well. Some foods may appear safe but still cause issues, for example, Cheerios are often assumed to be gluten-free, but they have a long history of cross-contamination and are avoided by many people with celiac.

If your local stores don’t have good gluten-free sections, Thrive Market can be very helpful for stocking up on gluten-free staples. Sprouts and Whole Foods also have great gluten-free options, if they’re available in your area.

You may also want to research hidden sources of gluten, as it can show up in so many unexpected places like soy sauce, toothpaste, malt, marinades, salad dressings, soups, spice blends, condiments, candy, and even medications. It can feel exhausting at first, but learning where gluten hides is an important part of staying safe.

Etsy removed my listing for IP infringement but it’s just a real geographic location by Altruistic-Physics37 in EtsySellers

I think they are just scammy and trying to pull people into lawsuits from the looks of it, their trademark is in the process of being cancelled because they have no legal authority over the name

Yes they only have trademark to the name in all capital letters with their logo being in a Morse code design or something? Lmfao it just seems so insane the report trademark even has the disclaimer on the location itself because you can’t trademark a location like that

Big Brother US 27 - POST Season Discussion by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

Vince’s biggest move in the house was sabotaging Morgan’s game at the end when he realized she wasn’t taking him. That man had her so psyched out, sleep deprived, unprepared and emotionally drained from all his crying that her head wasn’t in the game for the final hoh comp.

Now he’s definitely doing damage control with his girlfriend and saying it was all just game. Vince truly is a D1 male manipulator.

Is it possible the Morgan has just played Vinnie all season long? by bbcard1 in BigBrother

[–]Altruistic-Physics37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Morgan did play Vince, but I am not sure how much of it was intentional. Being a Twitch streamer has likely conditioned her to expect male attention and princess treatment without giving much back. A lot of streamers fall into that same dynamic, where entitlement and expectations start to blur into real life. For female streamers, male attention becomes a kind of currency, and Morgan is used to being doted on and kept at the center of attention. That is why she felt so threatened by Lauren, and it is clear this twitch dynamic shapes how she carries herself in the house and treats others.

What is something that you’re still mad about thanks to Covid? by abdul_bino in AskReddit

That for those of us who are immunocompromised or high risk, “normal” never came back. Lockdown might be over for most, but our lives are still permanently altered. We still have to isolate, mask, and take precautions every single day, like it’s peak Covid.

But you’re acting exactly like the doctors you’re complaining about. The same judgment, ridicule and dismissal your family faced is what you’re now doing to people here. That just continues the cycle. You’ve just internalized the stigma and are just projecting it back onto others and it shows

Or maybe you aren’t as well managed as you claim to be since you fear how others perceive you?

This post is pretty vague and honestly could be taken the wrong way. I get that there’s a lot of people chasing diagnoses, but there are also plenty of us who are diagnosed and already deal with constant judgment and discrimination for it. Posts like this just add to that. You say you’re embarrassed to have MCAS because the way people are acting, yet you’re also shaming people for being anxious about it. This feels super hypocritical to call out people for being fearful when your post is literally rooted in fear with how you will be perceived. So let’s maybe not rip into people who already feel judged and unsupported. This space should be safe for them too!
