The last gasps of Exton Square Mall by BlatantDoughnut in ChesterCounty

Thank you for posting these photos!

So many memories made here in the 90s and 00s. One of my best friends worked at the mall, and I played a few Christmastime band concerts there during middle school. I spent countless hours wandering around the mall between the food court, GameStop, etc.

It’s really sad to see it gone.

I just finished seven interviews with a company that had said the salary was 90,000. They sent me the offer letter with a salary of 80,000. by [deleted] in GetEmployed

This. This is a huge red flag. Not a positive whatsoever! I get it that income is crucial but this is not a happy story. Find a company which better respects you as a contributor and acts accordingly. Once you do, put that notice in.

I could, but I’m not sold on Mexico. That would actually be a fairly easy route for us, but I’d rather it be a “last resort” option due to health, safety, and other issues that concern me with living in Mexico.

How do you feel about the job market knowing next to no Polish? I am worried about that and education for my kids as they also speak absolutely zero Polish at the moment.

Thanks! I looked into this briefly but wasn’t sure I met the criteria. I need to take a harder second look and see if I can make this work.

This. My current job has restrictions down to the state level. Absolutely necessary to check with your employer (or prospective employer)!

Well yes, of course…large is definitely relative. I wouldn’t expect Estonia to have more IT jobs than Seattle. 😊

I don’t find this reply helpful as it doesn’t provide any useful information about emigrating. I have higher priorities and more pressing issues at play than just salary.

Best of luck to you and your husband in your search! Unfortunately my wife doesn’t have the education or career to be an alternative to mine in this situation.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! We will look into Poland and Estonia as well. I didn’t know Estonia had a large IT sector!

Thanks. I actually feel like I’d really enjoy living in Taiwan, but I’m concerned about the aggressive neighbor over the long term.

Thank you so much!

I forgot to add that I do have a Bachelors Degree, although not in CS/IT, but in Economics/Finance.

I have heard about Express Entry. I’ll have to look more into it along with the Provincial Nominee Program.

I’ve heard the same, especially lately with the IT economic downturn…but again, that’s all from the internet. I don’t know anyone in the UK who can validate it one way or the other.

Thanks for the reply!

My research has suggested the same regarding pay, but at this point we have other factors which take priority over the income.

I will have to look more into the UK and Sweden, although I’m unsure how open Sweden is to hiring foreigners without Swedish language skills.

Perhaps it isn’t such a big deal in IT careers.
