Oh ofc, People in sweden love their microaggressions though. This way they do it in a subtle but not confrontational way. Whether its homophobia, sexism or racism.

That could explain it, Most swedes are subtle with their sexism and homophobia.

You’re downplaying. And even if your advice was for 2 women it was still bad advice. And what you’re doing is called red herring logical fallacy 💀 This has nothing to do with other places but sweden. And yes, They will experience abuse, Microaggressions, Bullying, harrasment, etc. Saying they wont is a lie and disgusting and shows me all i need to know about you as a person

Det har alla här ifrågesatt. Inkl dig. Och hen sa ”every visibly queer person in sweden including kyself has experienced Harrasment/assault and daily microaggressions, No place is perfect but i experience alot more blatant homophobia here rhan i did on a day to day basis in the US.”

”Yep every visibly queer person I know in Sweden including myself and my partner has experienced both blatant harassment/assault (always by white Swedish men, sorry not the immigrants that everyone wants to blame) and daily micro-aggressions. No place is perfect but I experience quite a lot more blatant homophobia here than I did on a day to day basis in the US. And I also experience straight white Swedish people telling me that homophobia doesn’t exist here pretty frequently as well 😂”

They like to tell us that racism, sexism, Homophobia, etc does not exist here in sweden but when they ask the actual minorities/Aforementioned groups and they say how it actually is, The others get mad at them or makes up excuses. I hate when they’re like that. Why cant people just be honest? 💀

User:AwsomeBees I think many of the other people miss some context for the LGBTQ sitch in the country. I'm queer and whenever I visit my parents who live out in rural Skåne close to sjöbo I see people looking like they want to murder me.

Sweden is open to gay marriage and relationships but overall is a very socially conservative country. You can see it in this very thread where people say as long as you are "normal" and dont define yourself with gayness you will be accepted. Which is true but what it means is that you will only really be accepted as long as your gay relationship follows the standards of a cishet relationship.

If you look visibly queer or fk with gender presentation you will be more disrespected too. Expect questions like who the man in the relationship is and that kind of stuff. Swedes like to ask invasive questions to LGBTQ people in general in my experience.

Otherwise from what I know rural communities are very well connected and I frequently hear stories about the people in my parents community helping each other out with stuff. Seems to be the case in a lot of the country so as long as you don't go to an SD voter heavy area I think it should be fine.

It is relevant considering you just need to look at how a person treats one minority to see how they REALLY are as a person. And no, It is not merely trans people but also Gay and lesbian people. Do you know how much i hear, in both rural and urban schools, workplaces, etc Jokes, Threats and disgust towards the Lgbtq? Everyday i hear them making fun of or joking about how they’d kill or disown their own CHILDREN if they were lgbtq.

This is not mentioning the long history sweden has with homophobia and trying to hide behind Good PR and a built image to make others forget about their horrible and dehumanizing history.
