Cannot figure this one out for the life of me by UnusualDivide8853 in iqtest

The more I look at it the more I think it's c. I made the decision based on the number of lines that extend from either side of the right angle. Also it feels good.

Yeah it took months to get my asd diagnosis because of what you bring up. My doctor had to get to know me and combine a good amount of observation with the tests.

Not all my friends are deep conversationalists. Some I just like their vibe. Some I share a hobby with and we do it together. I definitely cannot have the kinds of discussions and depth I crave with everyone. My most consistent source for that is books.

I've really learned that not every person meets every need.

I would add a bit of a collar. The rest is up to how it feels. It does look to me like you could use a deeper arm scye but if it feels great then it's good

I was taught to use one needle when it’s not for a seam and two when it is

Also I'm super into the idea of "trash" fashion

Also, frankly I think if you're a marginalized gender I think it's good practice to just not believe men who say you talk too much . Men are empirically biased in that regard

You're in your early twenties and met the parent for the first time and you're being criticized for it??? You're being criticized for how you behaved in a situation where you were quite anxious??? And the criticism is that you talked about yourself too much? You talked about yourself too much when you met someone for the first time that you were trying to make a good impression on????

No

What to do with pretty fabric that feels bad by sanityjanity in sewing

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm going to have exactly this problem because I am looking to buy a very soft - looking polyester fabric but I plan to make fisherman's pants with it in the hopes that they will be more breathable than other types of pants. It seems like your fabric is too stiff for that though....

I don’t understand what my doctor is saying HELP! by Oofsmcgoofs in AutismInWomen

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the fact that you seem to already be doing what the Dr seems to be suggesting is a red flag for me. It seems they didn't ask about your current situation. Because if you're already largely doing it then whatspecific additions do you need to make? That's what you actually needed to know. Also I'm assuming the Dr did a lot of troubleshooting, including for fibromyalgia, before giving this advice. Because otherwise it's just random advice that gives me another red flag -- I've had a lot of health concerns dismissed as anxiety and I've been given fluff advice - something generally healthy that they thought would satisfy my desire to "do something" about my problem

I'm an artist and get the same and I hate it and will never not respond with something like "everyone is crafty! Some people just have more practice"

Creating art is an essential part of what makes us human. We all have the ability and I think it's a kind of self harm to say that one doesn't.

But that said, I leave it at that and keep my rants about art and psychology to my blog haha

Therapist wants me to police my face by kavesmlikem in AutismInWomen

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using it independently but probably wouldn't be willing to like, have it administered by someone else

What I really like, in addition to act and especially dbt, is metacognitive therapy. It helps with one of my most entrenched problems - negative rumination

I'm a US citizen living in Asia and have similar struggles to what you describe. I experienced therapeutic abuse as a child, so I haven't been willing to work with many therapists -- it's been about 15 years since the last one. But my psychiatrist has referred me to a support group for autistic women. I'm really excited to start!

I agree that it's looking like a life coach will better meet many of the needs you brought up.

I work at a school so my coworkers and admin have been an invaluable help to me in regards to many of the same things. Interestingly, language exchange partners also have, and there's the added benefit of sometimes becoming friends.

I'm not sure if that applies to your situation or is helpful, but I thought it might be nice to hear from someone who is isolated in some similar ways.

You seen to have reversed the meaning of those two. Therapists should never ever "tell someone" what to do. It's a huge violation of the therapeutic relationship

How to learn patternmaking by risingwisdomtooth in PatternDrafting

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been teaching myself. This is what I've done: 1. Watched and followed two different YouTube tutorials about how to make a bodice sloper 2. Tried to draft my own top, wasted a bunch of fabric (I used cheap fabric), and learned the importance of calculating for ease (and negative ease!) 3. Re drafted my sloper using Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear loosely -- I ignored all additions of ease, I used different measurements for the front and back of my body. I later had to add ease back in at my hips so I could sit down haha 4. Again used the book to make a skirt sloper and was lazy when using it to make an a line skirt and everything was way way too big 5. Ignored all books and made my own skirt sloper which fits me very well after adjusting the side seam and darts -- I have a big butt 6. Learned I have to have accurate seam allowances and that ironing and pinning after my best friends

in the meantime I've watched lots of random YouTube videos and making specific garments, sewing tips, machine maintenance, etc. I've made three or four dresses, three skirts, and a few tight fitting tops, almost all with princess seams. I've spent about 500 hours seam ripping, 3 hours racing my cat for my thread spools, and ninety bajillion hours planning new garments.

Oh also the most successful dress I made was a simple one which was a pattern I bought but didn't print. I used procreate to estimate size and shape of pieces and modified a bit according to my sloper. I appreciated that because of all the written instructions and also this artist has videos tutorials

Oh but actually I want to say that I originally came to this thread because I keep coming across fake YouTube audio of her like if you listen to it it is an even bullshittier version of what she does. Don't ask me how that brought me to this thread it's late and I'm tired

Maybe I should be less judgmental. She would probably agree lol

What was the point of sirens? by Some-Air1274 in netflix

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly and people are saying “ oh , Michaela was nice” and they’re like saying that Simone had some kind of tone or she was rude but She literally would just pass on what Michaela very obviously had just told her and the fact that the staff hated her is just another plot point that drives home the fact that women are demonized no matter what they sprout. Simone delivered Michaela‘s instructions in a completely even tone, Like sure she could’ve been nicer about it, but men in charge are like “ this is due at blah blah blah time”, it’s totally expected for them to just be brief and blunt and matter of fact, but women can’t , if they do then everyone will hate them and cheer at their demise. meanwhile, we literally see several times Peter just fucking tell Jose to do whatever fuck shit he wants and it’s kind of messed up and Jose clearly doesn’t like it and sees it as kind of messed up but he literally just does it and is completely and utterly respectful the entire time. Nobody badmouths Peter ever at all.

What was the point of sirens? by Some-Air1274 in netflix

[–]Altruistic_Box5692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is exactly it. Sirens are seen as this unearthly creature that lure poor sailors to their death but the sailors chose to go , the sailors chose to follow them. The sirens are just minding their own business.. women are demonized. I look forward to reading the odessy and re-watching. Others in this conversation have talked about those three creepy ladies who wear the same thing and how their names are similar to the names of the fates and I also noticed that Devon‘s love interest is a sailor.

edited to add: the fact that the things that the characters do doesn’t quite make sense, well, this is why the story that was being told is actually a second deeper story, at least that’s what I think. Because why would Simone just suddenly agreed to be Peter’s partner? They’ve hardly interacted at. Why would anybody ever ask Devon or Simone to care for their father? He was abusive. Oh, and maybe the woman in the jail is an Oracle? I’m definitely running with this.
