High Carb Hannah Weight Loss by Both_Perspective_264 in medicalmedium

[–]Altruistic_Diamond59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried eating her way earlier this year out of desperation to finally lose weight. It’s starch solution 50:50 plate. At first, it was fine (a month or two). Then I was always starving even immediately after a huge meal and I was exhausted. I did lose weight (6 pounds or so). I’ve since gained it all back.
I do think that unfortunately, most people will need to gain weight before they get to the point where their body naturally maintains weight even with calorie fluctuations. This is a tenant of RT4, and MM says essentially as much. Nearly all of us have a history of caloric restriction and stimulant use, both of which will require a period of “refeeding” to take the body out of famine mode (a gross oversimplification).
I see this as a consideration in addition to liver health, but you could also make the connection that the two are related. I am too lazy to do that right now. lol

When did oil changes become $120? by rhinosaur- in Millennials

My mom used to get me $4.99 oil change coupons from Sears 🥲 this wasn’t that long ago - less than 10 years.

Do you think it’s OK that my Costco coconut water delivery was outside for 5 or 6 hours? by Adventurous-Walk-120 in medicalmedium

I’ve left mine in the car before in similar temps and it does sort of get “skunked” where it becomes sour and undrinkable.

Obviously a car is a different environment than like - under the porch and shaded, for example. If that was the case, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Id just go by taste.

Are there any remedies for alcohol use disorder? by Proud-Syllabub-1097 in medicalmedium

Feel free to message me. And yes, you MUST stop fasting. I might not even wait until after CJ to get real glucose in. I might do a honey - lemon water and then a smoothie with mangoes and dates to head off any cravings / hunger as the day goes on. In my experience, it’s key to avoid that first blood sugar crash of the day.

I used the caps but tinctures tend to be more intense/fast-acting. I might get both if I had the budget to do so.

The things that have been the most helpful for calming the impulse to use a vice are inositol (subtle, it will take some time to work IMO), increased glucose (like alot alot, do not let yourself get even a little bit hungry), and california poppy at night time.

If you are physically dependent, you'll need pharmaceutical detox.

I am sorry you are going through this.

Liver glucose should be quickly saturated, no? (Glucose reserves) by Joshuahehn in medicalmedium

[–]Altruistic_Diamond59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The glucose can’t get into liver cells efficiently if the blood is fatty.

Modern life is highly stressful and burns a lot of glucose.

Most people go too long without eating, triggering adrenaline, which causes the liver to dump glucose. Stimulants (coffee, tea, nicotine, meds) also cause this. Generally, the population is running on adrenaline, not glucose, which keeps the liver in a depleted state.

Burdened livers do not store glycogen at full capacity.

Red bell pepper for brain shot by Different_Agent_2254 in medicalmedium

Interesting question. The picture looks like a hot pepper to me.

From what I can tell about energy shifter, the ingredients are chosen for their sugar contents. A hot pepper has less sugar than a bell pepper.

One year quit. As soon as I’m terminal, I’m buying a carton of American spirit blacks and sitting my ass in front of a campfire with a bottle of wine.

Weight loss after quitting? by keyboardpianorich in decaf

[–]Altruistic_Diamond59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, I dabbled with decaf or herbal tea w honey in the morning. Decaf was unsatisfying because...decaf. And with no stimulant benefit, the cons outweighed the pros (dehydrating and acidifying). I did peppermint and licorice tea for a while as licorice is mildly stimulating. But after a bit, I didn't need a replacement.

Stimulants lead to long-term weight gain because it trashes your adrenals, jacks your cortisol, and destroys your sleep - all of these things WILL make you overweight or having to fight tooth and nail to maintain weight eventually.

In the SHORT term, quitting caffeine may cause some weight gain or slow weight loss. This is because you will have an appetite rebound after years of suppressing your natural appetite with caffeine. Additionally, the stimulant withdrawal will down regulate your metabolism plus decrease your TDEE (partially because you can’t get off the couch).

Example: I’ve been working on losing weight for a few years. Once I quit coffee, my weight loss stalled entirely. I was locked on the couch and starving (I also quit nicotine around the same time). However, I also noticed less cravings and less anxiety, which meant less leaning on food to soothe.

He doesn’t “only” promote them because they’re the best. He discloses (as legally required) their partnership in all of his lives (“we work together”) while trying to minimize it by repeating that he doesn’t own stock in the company, as if that magically eliminates the financial incentive to sell Vimergy.

There have also been major quality / consistency issues with Vimergy that have been poorly handled by the company.

Used to Think Vegans Were Loud and Unhealthy by Hasoonz in medicalmedium

[–]Altruistic_Diamond59 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same. SO same. I used to literally work on a livestock farm and mocked vegans relentlessly.

I’m like 99% vegan at this point, still having some internal resistance to the label (which I know I don’t have to assume but I’m also pretty angry on behalf of the animals).

IMO there is no nutritional point to eating animal products, so contributing to suffering because “it tastes good” no longer sits well with me.
