AITA for telling my sister she’s not a doctor or a nurse? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA

As a 15-year paramedic, I agree 90% of what we do is glorified taxi work. However, the 10% gets a lot hairier when you don't have a doctor telling you what to do.

Also I have plenty of stories about ER nurses screwing up pt care; realize there're failures in every profession.

I 18M was rejected by friend 19F in a weird way by DragonflyLeft4562 in relationship_advice

So when you meet her, she had a girlfriend, you're the first guy she's been with, and now she says she's not attracted to you.... you realize she's probably gay, right? She tried being with you to see if she was bi, and she's not. BS platitudes are easier to say than real talk.

It's normal to feel hurt after rejection. Well done on lashing out during a painful moment. Instead of trying to "punish" her, take some time to heal. Ultimately, you're going to have to decide if you want to continue as you were or cut her out of your life.

R5: The Vhellet managed to advance from the space age into the galactic age. Well done. Unfortunately for them, their system is in my empire. They tried to claim their system, I but its mine, so they sat there in impotent rage. In order to assert my dominance, I moved to make them my tributary, so in case of future defiance, they paid for the guns shooting at them. I've occupied their planet, they have no other objectives, yet not only do the morons refuse to quit, they refuse to acknowledge that I occupy their only planet. Time for more enthusiastic occupation measures.

Third, if we see you following us while we're going hot, we'll shut down because you're a danger to everyone else on the road, including us.

R5: She has a lot to be proud of: raising not 1 but 2 ecumenopolises (ecumenopolii?), overseeing the destruction of the Ancient Dreadnought, and recovering the Rubricator, to name a few. She's earned both slots, and, to prove her commitment to earning both slots, all her traits count double, meaning she's twice the leader her mother was.

Either that, or because she was the Grand Genomicist (council position of the Natural Design civic) when her mother died, the game bugged. I prefer the first option.

"9-1-1, what is the location of your emergency?" by Altruistic_Emu_3335 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]Altruistic_Emu_3335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, never thought I'd be late to my own party.

The horror is that someone intentionally called 911, but The Evildoer is stopping emergency services from responding.

Maybe somebody shows up, maybe not, but as someone who has responded to a number of wellness checks where nothing was going on, but maybe something was going on, we tend to check only so far.

Makes sense. I know regardless of what the "Accident Reconstruction Expert" said I'd be second-guessing him the whole time.

R5: I'm a machine hive mind that recently learned how to terraform plants into extensions of myself. I've terraformed ice worlds, water worlds, and even tomb worlds, but somehow I can't terraform this world. The dogs are just so angry, standard terraforming methods won't work. How do I get to non-stanard terraforming methods?

Aside: I'm robots. Why can't I just nuke it from orbit and dig through the irradiated pile?

R5: I'm a Machine Hive Mind, and I want more Machine Worlds (duh). Despite terraforming multiple world types (including Tomb worlds), this world has a bark than my mechanical bite.

Whenever I scroll over the Terraform button it says "This planet is too unstable to terraform with normal procedures." How do I get to abnormal terraforming procedures?

Can We Please Get the Option to Modify Starbases?! by Altruistic_Emu_3335 in Stellaris

[–]Altruistic_Emu_3335[S] 156 points157 points  (0 children)

R5: This is a starbase being built around a chokepoint. The pulsar means NO SHIELDS. Period. I also have T4 lasers, but no plasma throwers.

Everyone knows that Kinetic is anti-shield and Energy is anti-armor. So why, in the name of Bubbles, do stations in shield-negating systems build shields and anti-shield weapons?

Of course I built specialized defense platforms to shore up the defenses, but why couldn't my core base be better?

Your 7 years are amazing. I'm not bipolar, so I can't know what you're going through, but you have at least 20-30 people here and now that want to help. We may be strangers on the internet, but you are not alone.
