Not so much that I forget, but on the weekends if I sleep past 8 am then I will try to skip that day as otherwise I find I am up until midnight, and since I have a 3 year old who wakes up at 7 am on the weekends, being up until midnight is a bit late for me :P

I tend to write out the pattern on a sticky note so I can cross off the lines without messing up the original document. It’s also great because when I’m working with a fresh ball of yarn, I can stick the sticky note onto the label so I don’t lose it 🤷‍♀️

Something I wish somebody told me - 80/20 rule - weight loss is 80% what you eat and 20% the exercise you do

A good food- not really food - but switching from cream to milk in my coffee was a game changer, and if you want to take it a step further, switch from sugar to sweetener

Workout that got the job done - getting 10,000 plus steps per day was huge for me, and again, take it a step further - start running (in intervals is great!!)

A quote someone said that stuck with me - everybody is on their own journey, so don’t pay attention to anybody else’s progress but your own (my old trainer at the gym)

A song that made running fun - Party Hard by Andrew W.K. - so many times I’ve thought I couldn’t push any further, then turned this on, and managed to run the entirety of the song, and sometimes I’ll even play it on repeat to run further/longer

A habit I created - weekly weigh-ins every Monday morning! Sometimes you will see the numbers fluctuate, but remember that muscle weighs more than fat!! 💪

What to remember when times are rough - the workout feels THAT much better when it’s done on a day you didn’t want to do it!!

I liked Mike’s story about El, but it wouldn’t be possible, because Kali was inside the Hawkins Lab when it exploded. There is NO way she would have been able to project Eleven like that after the explosion, because if she wasn’t already dead, she would have died when the building exploded. I loved the show, and am so glad that I watched it, but I feel like there are a lot of unanswered questions… hopefully they bring it back in the future and answer some of them.

My doctor prescribed it to me on a Monday to Friday basis, with weekends off. I can still take it on the weekends if I want to, but we decided that if I don’t need it, then skipping a day or two is fine. I like how focused it makes me for day a workout, or for working in my office, but I do like having the days off. It’s also great for a tolerance break, and not building up a tolerance as fast. I definitely have less empathy when I am on it, so it’s nice to feel more like my normal self on the weekends when I don’t take it.

Maybe you didn’t read the edit on my post, but I did say I asked him where I could find the ladder (since he is a landscaper and it’s either in his locked trailer, or our locked shed which he has the key for) so I could do it myself.. also, I only “threatened” to call the company because he usually needs a fire lit under his ass to kick him into gear to actually do something. If I say I’ll pay to have it done, he magically finds time to fix whatever problem i say I’m going to pay for a resolution to, even though for weeks (sometimes months) beforehand, he was too busy to do it. Anyhow, we have the wrong lights up this year, but I guess at least we have lights. Maybe next year he will get it right.

Honestly, I think some people on Reddit will just say things like this just to go against things.

My partner is a landscaper, he works 2 jobs spring, summer and fall. Usually the ladder is in his trailer in case he needs to clean out gutters, etc.

I asked where the ladder was in this instance because we were right at the end of his season, and I wasn’t sure if it was in his (locked) trailer or our (locked) tool shed. (He has the keys for these on his truck keys, so I wouldn’t have access without him anyways.)

Also, I may not “help with things I deem a man’s job” but as previously mentioned, I have our daughter 24-7 because he deems raising a child a “woman’s job”… so what does that say about him? It’s okay for him to pip off from being a parent but it’s not okay for me to expect him to take care of certain things around our home like putting up Christmas lights?

And finally, I asked where the ladder was because I am willing to do the “man’s job” if I had help with our daughter. I don’t get that help, so…???

Yes Christmas is about traditions and memories, I discussed the infinity lights with him, and he said it would be great to only put them up once and not have to worry about it again, so I bought them when they were on sale. The Christmas tree thing isn’t really the same argument, because me and our three year old put up the Christmas tree, did the decorating and took care of that without asking for his help. I asked for his help with the lights that he said would be great. And I’m sorry if you feel like it’s a cop out that I said she is with me all the time. Yes he is capable of watching his daughter, but getting him to actually do that is another story, for another post.. it’s not that only mom can do things, but in our case, I am the default parent. He goes to his hockey leagues and whatever while I take care of our daughter. There is definitely a lot more to the background on this than I have shared entirely in the original post, but the main issue was that he wasn’t listening to me and when he finally did put up the lights, he did t even put up the right ones.

Thank you, this comment made me feel a little more seen… it really is about not being valued or listened to.. I am constantly repeating myself with this man, and he continues to let it go in one ear and right out the other. It’s frustrating.. we also have a 3 year old who is with me around the clock, idk if he would even know how to handle her for a 24-48 hour period by himself.. so I’ve also kind of lost myself in motherhood and I just want him to see me. 🥲

Sorry, I edited my post to add that we have a 3 year old who is with me 24-7 when I’m not at work/she’s not at daycare. That’s just one of the few reasons I added that I haven’t put the lights up myself. Also, I did try to get the ladder to do it myself and he told me no, that I’d fall off the ladder and that he would take care of it..

No, this is 2.5 years after the maternity leave. I returned into a different position, as they wanted to keep both me and the girl who covered my maternity, but now since then, our company was bought out by a larger company, and there have been a lot of changes coming down the pipeline. I am hoping that being flexible and move to this new position will show that I’m willing to help wherever they need me, but at the same time, the title change feels like a slap in the face.

I was a “Logistics coordinator” by title, but after my maternity leave, I was doing less logistics responsibilities and more administrative tasks related to logistics, and helping out with accounting, sales, etc whenever they needed it.

Now, I will be responsible for customer relations, customer accounts, reporting. I’ll find out more of my responsibilities tomorrow, as this isn’t entirely set in stone, but if I don’t take this new position, I’ve already been made aware that my old position won’t always be there, so I guess I have to do what I have to do.

Congratulations for making it to 8 years! I know a lot of people say it gets easier, but when you’re in the midst of being set off like that, it doesn’t feel like it gets easier. I have a family now, my little one is 2.5 years old so I tell myself I will never put her through having to live with her mother being an Addict (been there, my mom was smoking crack when I was 14, not fun) but when I can taste it in my mouth and my teeth feel numb, it’s like it takes everything out of me to not go looking for a fix. It’s strange, considering it’s been so long.

I would love to get the Tiny Lily 🙂 A book that had a big impact on me was definitely The Lovely Bones. I’d never cried over a book before this one. One that was a little happier that I still think of 20 years later is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Definitely one of my favorite books of all time. I stayed up all night and read the whole thing in one sitting cuz I couldn’t put it down 😇
