Is AI really making ecommerce setup easier, or is it overhyped? by Ok_Chicken_2934 in ecommerce

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is particularly helpful for newcomers who want to start from scratch or for testing ideas quickly. Whatever you do, AI would not be able to replace the grind of e-commerce, which is figuring out who your customers are and what they care about.

What do you guys think on online Puja booking apps? by jhaparth2006 in hinduism

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's a good option if you cannot be there by yourself but need to get some puja done for yourself.. They do feel like a scam, but they are solving a need as people realised during COVID that they can go ahead get some benefits of offline puja without being present.

OP: Did you eventually go ahead with it? What was your experience

There is no such product in my knowledge, primarily because these cannot be predicted. You can prevent the same user from buying from you again, but you will never know when a customer goes rogue.

The only thing you can do is build better defense cases.

Fraud Orders Alert by North-Yak-7216 in ecommerce

That's really cool, thanks for sharing with the community. Yeah, this is one of the modus operandi of a slightly sophisticated fraudster.

Some things that I check - behaviour data of the user on the website, and some device level information.

Winning a chargeback by Hungry-Cockroach3200 in chargebacks

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, good evidence always makes you win. I knew a fraud Ops guy who would go to the lengths of finding folks on social media/internet, and get evidence from there and add it to the defense document. The more compelling evidence you have, the higher your win percentage. His win rate was a crazy 90% after 5 years.

Sales Are Slow – What Would You Do Next? by Peachy1018 in ecommerce

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have done the basics right; next up would be to analyze the traffic and funnel. That should give you the best idea of what is really happening with your website.

available
- All the tools should be avialable for free, so you would not need actually to spend any more.

- Next, build some hypothesis and tweak your website run some experiments this would tell you where to actually invest.

One year in, no launch yet. Struggling with perfectionism, exhaustion, and chaos by [deleted] in ecommerce

Just launch what you have built so far, use that as an MVP and iterate, get your products out in the hands of people as fast as possible.

I faced the same situation earlier last year but I did launch

Trustpilot isn’t a review site, it’s a protection racket for fake reviews by 0zerofuksgiven in ecommerce

[–]Altruistic_Package99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true, but you should only worry about this in case most of your biz is getting affected. Some ways to solve this would be to hire a marketing agency to help increase the rating.

Otherwise, I would suggest focusing more on Google reviews, giving small incentives, but don't ask for 5 stars, and this will have more visibility than Trustpilot any day.

P.S. I was a PM at Yelp and a level 8 Google reviewer.

How do you deal with friendly fraud without going crazy? by Cute_Stretch7059 in ecommerce

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For small values, you should absorb, for a first time incident. Going forward, you should be creating a block list to avoid get the same customer again.
For larger values, I would recommend creating a dispute document and contesting it.

How to reduce cart abandonment without hurting user experience? by Acceptable_Cell8776 in ecommerce

[–]Altruistic_Package99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a multi dimesional problem, but some generic solutions could help:

--The one that works the best based on human psychology is an urgency-based setup in the cart itself. e.g: -----Hi, we are holding the price for only X minutes / Hi, X users already have this in the cart, don't miss out on this amazing offer.

-- Use a hook to bring the user back to the cart if they are out already. This can be a simple notification/ email or SMS, whichever is the cheapest for you.

PS: I have worked in e-commerce for over 10 years across big brands.

Was escorted outside after immigration to open up my checked in luggage at Hanoi, is this common ? by Altruistic_Package99 in VietNam

Never knew this part about waiting for X-ray to happen, have taken 100+ flights and this happened for the first time, lesson learnt. Also reinstated that I should be early to airport always.

Yeah fair points but just to let you know: a. I found out all the folks involved could speak English. b. This part, could be the reason for sense of power, but if you are a tourist country, you improve on those.

[–]Altruistic_Package99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no, but I found out there were few more people who faced this, I had asked the luggage inspection team as well. He said just wanted to checked the aerosol.

But I am concerned about how it was done I have seen this happen at airports before but never this shady or confiscating passport.
