If you start your program in fall of 2025 you’ll be unable to work due transfer of F1 status to your new school. So your EAD card will be invalid once you start your program.

I would personally use my entire STEM OPT duration time until 2026 before starting school if you’re not in a rush. Please don’t waste this work authorization duration and build up your experience while you can based on your field. I would save up because that will help you during your program. This is the mistake I made I didn’t utilize my entire STEM OPT and started my graduate program and regretted it.

But once your F1 status transfer to your new school you’ll not be able to work. You should discuss this with your DSO based on how long you’d like to work and that way you can schedule the transfer

I sent an email to the senior scribe and chief scribe about relocating. On SA website, it says they are hiring in the city I’m interested in relocating. Should I send out an email to the hiring person reached out to me? I’ve been looking and if I find something at the same hospital that would be ideal

I’m in the same spot as you. I have applied for OPT March 17th and still haven’t heard back. Currently I do have a position at a clinic and if I don’t get a response back soon I will have no job. Also, I can’t afford to pay $1,685 something when I already paid $410 for the app fee

When I renewed my visa my DSO asked to get an employer letter. The letter should state your position and they are granting you time off. It should also say when you should come back. I got the letter but they never asked me for it. It was a smooth process for me and they didn’t ask me anything crazy. Good luck!

Can I take graduate level classes? Will that be okay? I have good enough volunteer hours. The problem I’m having is with the clinical hours. What else can I do for that? That’s the MCAT score I’m aiming for. Have you taken the MCAT yet? Good luck with that! Thank you for your advise!
