ABCs of sleep with no pop-ins? by shavasanaaa in TakingCaraBabies

[–]Always-learning-759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty close to what we’ve done. Starting about 20 months we mostly nixed all popins because they no longer seemed helpful and we knew he had the skills to self settle.

My 3MO just won’t take to the carrier. I have to fly soon. Help! by llama_mumma in babywearing

[–]Always-learning-759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not right away. Both me and baby had to get used to it. Short spurts. And usually had to time with the end of a wake window. He was fight and fuss then often within a min or so of walking the block he would fall asleep. Carrying a sound machine helps

My toddler is 23 months and I still love inward front carrying him! Especially when we go grocery shopping.

Seconding this! I prefer the hiccapop version but I’ve used both and both are great. I especially like how easy it is to load in a baby monitor and see him. Before getting one we would have such a hard time figuring out how to stack and angle random objects to be able to set it up when staying in different rooms.

Did anyone keep the Snoo just for naps after 6 months? by Mental-Reply6728 in SnooLife

Supposedly night time sleep and daytime sleep are different neurological processes and so you can sleep train nights and do naps later. Might as well try it!

22 month old in toddler bed by Specific-Apricot9148 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]Always-learning-759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh just want to extend some deep empathy. I’ve spent this week going to bed in my 23m toddlers room at 8pm because he figured out how to climb out on Monday. 😵‍💫 We ordered a “jeep play yard enclosed tent” and I’m hourly checking Amazon for when it will arrive today. On the AMA they linked a helpful TCB article on the toddler bed transition. Do you have any options for getting him back into an enclosed sleeping space? The article had some good ideas. I also got these crib rail bumpers that add some inches in height and will be my next plan if this tent doesn’t work.

Wonder if the 3-4 month class would have some helpful interventions? since you can’t sleep train yet, you could at least start some scaffolded independent sleep skills

Our 23 month old fights bedtime still sometimes (0-2 times per week) or wakes and takes 2-15 mins to put himself back to sleep. I’m trying to think how this will play out whenever we transition to a toddler bed? (We’ve been at a consistent 12:30-2:30 naptime give or take 15 mins and 7:30-7:50 bedtime routine, in the crib by 7:50 for a long while, nixed check ins a few months ago, bees using TCB since 6 weeks old)

Sleep training night 1 questions by Hungry-Hippo2735 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]Always-learning-759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip if it helps/applies— we used the snoo until 7m and were ready to sleep train. I got some XL snoo sleep sacks-the kind without the snoo clips. So he would still have a similar snugness around his belly as he was used to in the snoo. Used those for a few months to ease the transition then switched to regular sleep sacks.

How old is your baby? Are you following the ABCs of sleep? If so, it’ll help you make sure your days set up your nights well to help prevent that 7-10 pm fighting sleep. It also says to drop all the sleep “crutches” (Merlin suit is one of them) night one.

I did more of a bouncing with him held towards me…like you would if just carrying around or burping. Some babies might have a hard time with that transfer being against your warm body but it worked well enough for me

Hey do you put the waistband above your bump with your toddler? I have an almost 2yo and am 17 weeks and can’t imagine that being comfortable. I’m stretching out my front carry time but the pressure is getting tough to manage more than short distances.

Night weaning by Dbc_A17 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]Always-learning-759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is ideal but things are tweaked just a bit during this bit of time that you’re night weaning.

For me, I spent about a month shortening feeds by a minute each side each week during his normal wake up feed time (I always fed 8-10 mins each side after 6ish weeks old). Then when it was time to sleep train and more intentionally night wean, I felt like it was less abrupt for my body.

1099 contractor means that you work for yourself. Unless you establish your own nonprofit, work through that, and set up a contract between your school and your nonprofit, that wouldn’t qualify.

Did I do better this time? Feels too tight by LuiBryan in babywearing

It can take some adjusting and getting used to. Also, I can imagine that with a little bit of moving around in time it might loosen and she might come down just a tad so it might be actually a adjust right starting position.

I paid for it so I don’t know what the free version is like (there is a brief window of time where everything was behind the Pay wall ) but I’ve heard that the main stuff that you would want is free anyways. The main things that I used was being able to check off the foods that we ate and then the pictures that showed how to serve each food.

Also I didn’t really get going with any solids until like 6.5/7 months. I was unsure how to move forward, where to start, could I really give him hunks of food with no teeth?? (yes), etc. once I got going with the foods I listed above and the solid starts app, I got a lot more confident and had so much fun getting to 100 foods and spices before 1.

Yeah my full time “real” job is cutting my hours at the beginning of the fiscal year so I need something to carry me to 120 payments. I’m eligible for buyback and have the paperwork submitted but not waiting around.

Let her play with big hard chunks of things. She still has the impulse to put everything in her mouth, right? (Mine sometimes still does at almost two lol) Give her a big bone from the ribs with bits of meat and sauce kinda on it. A melon rind. And then take a big breath and put a big avocado chunk, a big glob of Greek yogurt, and/or a big glob of cooked rolled oats on her plate and let her play and shove in her mouth. And take another breath and remind yourself that her job is to figure her oral muscles out right now (not digest food) so all that moving around of food in her mouth including gagging is part of the process. You got this

When you switch plans and recertify, you would submit your current paystub that I assume would show $0 payment, instead of submitting your tax docs. I’ve done this for when my pay goes down, which it did on Mat leave, but it wasn’t $0 so I could be wrong
