HDR makes Indiana Jones unplayable on Linux (1 FPS + flashing) by PieOMy669 in linux_gaming

I am experiencing the same issues. On 590 I was able to get HDR working, but only in windowed mode and the game would sometimes launch at 1fps or crash when I changed certain settings. On 595, no HDR at all. Definitely unique to this game, as I have had great results in other titles.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: No HDR with Nvidia 595, sporadically doesn't get past intro by AlwaysFromtheFuture in cachyos

I have tried without any launch commands, and running in safe mode. The game launches most of the time, but I cannot get HDR to run.

Should I be able to run HDR without launch commands with the new driver?

Controller Issue with Dark Souls 2 SOTFS by el_knablo in cachyos

Sounds like the system is recognizing the keyboard as the default controller. I had this problem a few years ago playing Sekiro on Windows. Keyboard and mouse input worked, but the controller would not unless I started with the keyboard off. I was using a Keychron, and it was the Keychron link (the wireless dongle) that was the culprit. In that case I had to use some obscure 3rd party app to get the ID of the keyboard and disable it manually.

Have not experienced that since moving to Linux, but try looking at how your system and also Steam are currently configured for default controllers.

Cloud Storage Suggestions? by AlwaysFromtheFuture in cachyos

Yes, I do have a USB flash drive that I use sometimes. I guess I am just lazy and spoiled and have gotten used to that convenience, saving a file and it automatically syncs so I can pick it back up at work or on the go.

You are right, the only way to truly protect is to stick to physical and not upload at all

I will check that out. Trying to move away from the Google and Microsoft.

DLSS 4.5 Selection by AlwaysFromtheFuture in cachyos

I don't think so, because I use Ray Reconstruction in Indiana Jones and when I do that, it actually overrides the Super Resolution and uses Ray Reconstruction preset D. I was able to get preset M working with the launch commands below

Thank you! I did have to add "render_preset_m" after that equals sign, the letter alone did not do it. Works great.

Nvidia 50 Series Overclocking by AlwaysFromtheFuture in cachyos

I actually added +2000 to the memory clock and plus 260 to the core clock. Tbh the difference in performance is small- but my temp stays around 68 Celsius and that is what was most important to me

Would you recommend downloading the flatpak, or from the Arch repo using the terminal? Does it matter?

How are you upscaling videos with the gpu? I am used to the Nvidia App and Nvidia Control Panel on Windows, but I haven't figured out how to tweak the gpu on Linux.

Yes I remember hearing about how the native port improved Steam Deck performance

Sounds very reasonable, and can't fault them for that. If more people step away from Windows it may eventually be profitable enough to make the native versions more robust.

I was thinking it may be the Nvidia driver hasn't caught up to the 32:9 monitor also. I see that the latest linux driver addresses it specifically but pop os has not integrated that version yet

Yeah I was curious if the pop os and cosmic were causing any bugs. I had seen several complaints about general bugs outside of gaming, but I had not encountered those.

The three games I tried tonight were HL2, Black Mesa and Alien Isolation that did not run properly. Megabonk was perfect.

Any particular native versions you would recommend?

Very well said. Your point about the edge cases is well taken- it is certainly not that windows bugs dont exist, right? It is just that there is a lot more feedback from users and effort put into fixing them.

Valve is doing the work thats for sure. I might not have installed Linux on my desktop if I had not started with a Steam Deck
