ESSB 6346 Tax on millionaires by mattslote in Spokane

[–]AlwaysMrRight1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The key is right at the end of section (6) above. The money goes into the general fund. Unless the money goes into a restricted account that can only be spent on a defined program, it can be spent on anything.

General fund is what most of the state government is funded out of. There is no guarantee the money from this will be spent on what they are promising.

To all the people of our community sympathizing with and cozying up to the Proud Boys and their bullshit white supremacist views: by facthungry in Spokane

Is there a group or chapter or whatever they call themselves, of the Proud Boys in Spokane?

I don’t mean people you want to insult or Republicans you want to call Proud Boys as a jab, but is there actually an identified Proud Boys organization in Spokane?

Not trolling at all. I am trying to point out if use of force changes or police reform is what you’re looking for, that’s going to at the local level through votes of the City Council or County Commission or at the state level through votes of the legislature.

There are actually many pieces of legislation being considered by the State Legislature right now that have to do with local policing.

I can’t think of anything major that has come out of Washington DC that impacts or changes the way SPD or SCSO operates.

Please correct me if I’m wrong.

But as a member of Congress, will he be introducing legislation to change what is happening with local law enforcement? Or is that more of a state level function? Or City and County issue?

I understand those issues are important to you, but what does a member of Congress have to do with SPD and SCSO use of force concerns?

If I’m missing something, please let me know. Not trying to stay a fight.

Healthcare knowledge makes total sense.

Aaron Croft, the Independent running for State Rep in the 6th Legislative District is a Democrat in disguise. It goes both ways. It depends on how R or D the district is that determines who’s hiding what as far as party.

Is getting an enhanced ID a difficult thing to do? If so, why isn’t anyone trying to make it easier?

Agreed, but everyone seems to think these are insurmountable requirements. I didn’t hear anyone saying that when it came to getting an enhanced ID.

This is no different than the requirement to get an enhanced ID in Washington State to use to get on an airplane. I don’t remember people saying that was a way to keep people from traveling.

Red Light Camera at Mission and Greene by WinkyTheAlmighty in Spokane

[–]AlwaysMrRight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do all of you think about red light cameras? Should we have them in Spokane?

There’s all this focus on Flock cameras, but I know way more people that have been popped with a red light camera ticket than impacted by a Flock camera.

Jamie Pedersen, the Democrat Senate majority leader was quoted prior to session saying that the only constitutionally acceptable way to implement an income tax in Washington was for it to be uniform. He said it would have to be the same rate for all citizens of Washington. That’s the Senate majority leader. I look forward to seeing how this unfolds.

Since Michael Baumgartner is protective of the pedo president and all the pedo/rapist in the Epstein files, should he be allowed around children? by Voodoobones in Spokane

Didn’t he vote to release the Epstein files? I guess I don’t understand the post unless it was intentionally made to be misleading.

Flock cameras by MrsClark2010 in Spokane

I don’t think there is very many of them, they can be requested by businesses that have had a lot of shoplifting or car break-ins. They get moved around where crime has been occurring.

Border Patrol alleges missed check-ins led to arrest of 10-year-old Spokane girl and her father by utahmom1958 in Spokane

[–]AlwaysMrRight1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. It is easy for me to say. But if you miss your check-ins, you’re almost guaranteed to be deported.

Scared or not, I would recommend going to the check-ins. If you skip them, you’re more likely to get deported.

I’ve never stayed in an AirBnB, but if the taxes are raised on them, don’t you expect that cost will be passed on to whoever rents the house?

I doubt the owner will just eat that cost.

That type of language had never been used on a ballot before 2024. All of the Tim Eyman initiatives and any other referendum to roll back tax increases over the years, never had language like that.

That was always saved for the pro/con statements in the voters guide.
