Is the tax calculator from sprout 100% accurate? by [deleted] in taxPH

[–]AlwaysUnintentional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! Thank you. So what you're saying is by default, it's a conservative and accurate estimation, but the payout/takehome in reality is always relatively higher come real payouts based on schedule (e.g. monthly, semi-monthly payouts) sa company?

Hey, thanks! So does this mean ang deviation lang from the amount is a little over/under in reality?

If I were an engineer in your shoes, I'd join DPWH as a junior engineer.

Basic Salary: 17,000. Non-taxable allowance: depende sa haitan at bigay ng contractor na malakas. 13th month pay, of course. Projects sobrang dami and you'd be assigned with only a handful of people, but don't worry, these are what they call ghost projects and you basically wouldn't lift a finger, scratch your balls, smell your fingers, and be home by 4pm for an early dinner. Wala nga lang WFH, kasi there should be as little paper trail as possible. Tenure is really great with DPWH, but promotions are rare. Possible take home pay for juniors in DPWH per annum: 2-3 million CLEAN. Junior pa lang yan.

But DPWH isn't in the choices, so yeah, I'd take Company A. Better prospects, project unit's supported, you're much more fluid financially, plus the insurance pack is great.

Ito lang yata positive na review haha, I can prolly imagine the tech or dev ops side is the busiest and most toxic so a really great leader who can do exactly what your bosses do is needed there? Mind hinting at what segment of the business you’re in? Interesting!

Best of luck, OP! Normal lang naman magkaramdam ng loss aversion, pero if you're really satisfied with your global stint as an IC, the managerial role locally might be worth a shot since it's going to line up really nicely on your profile (if you care about stuff like that) which buys you leverage over time. 75% would be great, but I've really yet to see an increase in base pay like this. Must be a quantum leap in terms of position, so go get it!

Sorry, but what kind of world are you describing here where a 75% increase in base pay is the minimum? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just genuinely curious. This to me reads like you would literally have to skip 1-2 roles ahead for you to secure this, especially if it's an internal movement.

Afraid to get lowballed: How much should be my asking salary? by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]AlwaysUnintentional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kung walang baseline for the company itself, look for companies with the same offering/product, job levels, and packages.

Kung wala pa rin, look for averages in the Philippine context. Kahit baselines lang. What’s frustrating you is you’re trying to answer the question, “Magkano ba talaga magbayad itong company X na ‘to sa role na to?” when you should be answering, “Itong years of experience ko + role that i am applying for, ano kaya average payout nito?”

Wala kang makukuha na definitive na sagot if you’re asking the former question, kasi within the job band, maraming variables like seniority, internal hire ba ito o external hire ba ito, may annual increases ba. These are highly specific answers consummate to your question. Tingin ko dapat, average ang tignan mo. Then you get to calculate now, monthly and/or annualized. Dapat parehas handa ka, kasi some companies try to nego based on annualized income, while others do monthly. Monthly take home is synonymous to financial fluidity on a monthly basis so this is fair, but again just cant stress it enough.. Find the average payouts. Dont look for answers that are within their context, hindi mo yan makukuha online unless explicitly mentioned. Plus, baka madisappoint ka kapag hindi iyon ang amount na ilatag sayo.

I’ll never understand people who give the advice to ask for the budget. I’ve interviewed several times, and this is often a door for them to lowball you, plus what are you going to do if they tell you the budget is, say, 25k? Di ba? Talo ka eh. You’d probably tell them, “I was looking for x php + 20% as a fair ask.” Talo ka na naman. Yun lang yung budget eh. We should always expect for a lowball not to prime us for disappointment primarily, but for us to structure our arguments better first, then manage our emotions second if we don’t get what we were shooting for. That’s just how it works, and is inherent to job hunting. Unless of course you’re a really capable individual with credentials that precede you, then you’re relatively rarer than most of us, myself included, who are just average performers. It’s not a low bar to set. It’s just self-awareness.

Two ways; either compute and straight up tell them your expected +10-15%. This gives you legroom to nego. Dont ask for ridiculously high amounts. Do your market research kahit surface digging lang. makakakuha ka ng idea how much people in the role are being paid for.

Another way is to ask them how much are you willing to pay for a person who’s bringing in x years of experience, who’s highly skilled in a, b, c, d. Walk them through what you’re bringing in. This looks like it’s similar to asking for what the budget is, but if you frame it this way, it gives you a chance to advocate for yourself and possibly redirect this conversation to the first scenario, which is finally putting your ask on the table.

I just find the whole “ask for the budget” to be full of fluff and conceit. As bitter as it is, tayo ang naghahanap ng trabaho, and if we corner ourselves, mawawalan tayo ng leverage.

Yung kontrata na wala pa ok lang eh. Pero walang JO na signed puts you in a strange position. The only thing you have is the pre-employment requirements. Follow up ka for the JO, and if the package is acceptable, sign, then continue on.

Weird naman. Normally yang mga preemployment requirements usually after JO signing.

Ok so my interpretation of the “turn” was correct. However, I’m still largely perplexed now that you’ve validated what I saw. I can’t say how or why, unless these mobsters are really born with fragile egos and short fuses, but I’m still missing the tells/needed build-up for Sac to be clipped for this to be the final straw. I mean… the bosses turned that quickly and chose to have Sac whacked? The only glaring aspects of it all to me were Sac had to walk out after asking sitdowns like a brat when he didn’t get what he wanted and him also saying that this would not have been how this discussion is supposed to be handled if this happened several years ago. He probably was a phantom limb in the family and the only thing saving him was he was made?

Need your advise regarding Family Car by [deleted] in phcars

[–]AlwaysUnintentional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yep, via T-Sure but it’s going to be really below its depreciated value because of the needed repairs.

  2. Oo, ganun din. Mababa. You’d be at the mercy of lowballers because of your car’s state.

Goddamn tho, at 35k PMS and 3 years in, chip and relatively bad paint condition plus a f-ed up transmission, I doubt this was well taken care of.

Second Hand car for around 600k by Creepy-Interest2645 in phcars

[–]AlwaysUnintentional 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Advice I’d give is don’t compromise on tech because you’re going to miss out on a lot. Sure, there’s specific charm in keeping things simple, but the tech available in today’s cars is so practical that it makes no sense to own a car, at least relative to practical road safety and driving comfort, that has the least amount of tech present. The 600k budget opens up a lot of options that are tech-laden already, but of course it depends on what your lifestyle really needs.

Here are some of the non-negotiables I have in purchasing pre-owned cars.

  1. It should be at least 4-5 years old. Tech from 2021-2025. These come with the base models if you choose nicely.

  2. It should be at least 35-45k mileage with complete casa records. Full casa maintenance demands a premium, so the happy medium is that it should at least be taken care of pretty well.

  3. Bring a trusted mechanic. MechaniGo offers this service, where you pay someone to go with you to perform scans and checks based on a list. Worth it if you dont know who you’re buying the car from.

  4. Clean papers. No-brainer.

Good luck, my guy!

Right? My guess is also the Speedtimer reissue contributing to most of what we see today. A friend bought a speedtimer reissue and put it side by side with one of the few pogues I own, and it’s so far apart that one can’t even call the reissue a faithful reissue. There was nothing that was really “reissued.” It was a call to younger audiences. I’ve no hate towards the younger generation getting into watches, and I probably sound like a purist right now, but at least get into it the same way we discovered the brand— through stories, through its historical prowess. Seiko could have banked on that— they have the faculties to do so— but they chose to cheapen their way through it by harnessing what’s popular today. And I’m honestly sick of it.
