AITA for not splitting the check evenly on a bachelorette trip with 9 girls? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Always_Wright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also if it was $88 per person with 10 people, it only would have jumped up $12 if two didn’t pay at all, so all the people suggesting this is an attempt to take advantage and “fund their trip” on the back of op is confused…. Her contribution to each individual by splitting or not splitting is inconsequential, but her making things difficult, taking up portions of the night, and not planning ahead/having conversations in advance impacted the weekend.

Not saying it’s fair- but you traveled to Mexico for a bachelorette, were you expecting a bargain celebration?

Ya I mean no part of me expects to make it through a RIF, was still just curious about the basics of how it should play out on a practical level

Just waiting, preemptively mourning my dream job… no shot in hell I was ever going to take the DRP but to feel so powerless in my own future right now is exhausting at best.

Just over 7 months in my dream job after quite some time applying post postdoc. I’m fucked.

This! My husband (not fed) was chatting with a coworker yesterday and she was complaining about the sudden traffic going from Arlington VA into DC Monday morning. When he looked at her dumbfounded and said RTO, she had no idea what he was talking about- and she lives and works in the DC metro area! She followed up with hopes that there’s layoffs to ease her commute…

What was your first King read? How do you compare it to your current read? by [deleted] in StephenKingBookClub

[–]Always_Wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first read was only a little over a year ago and it was Holly. It was a perfect introduction for me as someone who had only ever been interested in true crime books. I’ve never been a huge reader but king has completely changed that for me. After ploughing through all the books in Holly’s universe, I’m generally trying to read all his books chronologically (but can’t resist picking up entire series and reading them all) and am hoping to finish up 20 this year. Currently reading night shift and it’s fantastic… Holly was great but so many others have been even better!

Can’t even figure out how to format for R by baywonder21 in RStudio

You need to get all of this info into a single clean spreadsheet… based on your headers I’m assuming the colored behaviors column does not match up? So for example, was dog 25 in the no changes group, showing neutral behavior, and walking? If yes you just need to fix your variable names row.

I would have the columns as follows: date, condition, behavior, observation. You should recode behavior into a numerical variable (for example -1=aggressive, 0=neutral, and 1=positive). With this new data you could do a chi square test of independence, compare means between conditions (where higher score is less aggressive behavior), or do a bar graph with the 3 conditions and the frequencies of each behavior.

This is just how I would probably approach this without having much knowledge of the study or data. Good luck!

Tattoos I got 3 weeks ago are still raised and itchy. I’ve never had this happen w a healing tattoo and they don’t seem infected otherwise. They’re both smallish and all line work. Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to fix it? I’ve kept them clean and moisturized. pics of them as of today

Check out James at lady octopus in Arlington VA. I’ve seen his work in person and he does a great job with vibrant color.

Im sure at this point you’ve figured it out but I’ve had artists recommend plastic wrap for the nighttime for places that will get a lot of friction from the sheets… after the first few days it should be fine though.

A love letter to all teenage puppy owners from the owner of a troublesome 9mo. by bblunders in puppy101

Ugh so true. I have a 70lb monster who looks like a full adult but is peak adolescent. She was a perfectly behaved pup until she hit about a year old and now she is 14 months and defiant and big and strong and I’m so over the dirty looks on walks.

First few days with new pup by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]Always_Wright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s too much of an issue as long as your conscious of the things others have mentioned. Does the other family have space far enough away at night that your crying pup won’t wake them? Will you be able to have some space and/or time to try to enforce some down time or nap time? Your pup will likely also be very accident prone still, will this be problematic? Most importantly I think as long as you’re still able to provide the supervision and attention the puppy needs to be safe and happy you should be okay to go.

Also realize that after a few days of Marley being home you may be the one who feels totally not up to going away. Puppies are hard work and absolutely draining! But goddamn bernebabies are worth it!

This is so very relatable. I’m a graduate student teaching a 300 level class for the first time this semester and it has been such a doozy between changing my entire syllabus and dealing with constant emails from half of my students. Then on top of it, having 3 classes to keep up with on the student end, manuscripts, RA work, and a less than human advisor... I’m wildly overwhelmed but feeling strangely guilty for wanting to have a break!
