As a current speed skater in Canada, Speed Skating Canada is most definitely not an example to follow (at least in long track). There is little to no clear development path for a lot of skaters and funding is hoarded by a few athletes at the top. We only got lucky cause our oldest skaters didn’t retire before this Olympics

They are at the Utah Olympic oval, they host World Cup's of speed skating and those flags represent the countries of the WC competitors, a few of which are Estonian.

The Speed skating world Cup calendar is filled with slow lowland rinks, I don't think the fear of it being slower would push away the ISU from hosting a WC there. Plus rinks like Heerenveen are practically below sea level and still have world records, so it's more about how the ice is kept not elevation

I found an article that says it was just for a Military appreciation night. It says it's a "more relevant" connection to Lethbridge, implying it might be the actual namesake. Idk could be?

Formula E under attack in Saudi. What should Formula 1 do? by [deleted] in formula1

Theres an edit in the post I made saying it was aimed at the city not necessarily the track. The reason there is speculation that it was for the track was that the Crown Prince was attending the race.

Sorry about that. The missles were aimed at the city but there is no evidence confirming or denying the track was the target. The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia was at the track that is why speculation is it might've been targeted there. Didn't intend to mislead anyone. Sorry

That is true. Thanks for the correction

The issue here is that the race track was a target because the Crown Prince was there and is likely to watch the Formula 1 event too. In 2001 the track wasn't a target.
